| Next on the list is completing install on top of Lac des Deux Montages mountain (AP/Relay plus transmision backup site for main relays around town) also Nun's Island AP/Relay on top of 27 story building. Hope to get this all done within 15 days. |

How do you handle channel contention ? I suspect some locations may be very crowded. Between two APs, do you use highly directional antennas that bypass any interference fron WiFi systens bellow the path ? |

1 edit | reply to SkyNetCanada Well for our Free Internet access Wifi setup we install on each comemrcial installation, we simply use the less crowded freq available for the omni and utilise the B protocol as its more robust and this is simply free Wifi access.
For our other higher freqs, depending on whether its ISM or licensed, for ISM bands, we again analyze for cleanest freq available which also depends on spectrum width we decide to use for the install. If install is a larger setup with tower etc, we will most likely use the wider spectrum. We do not encouter that much interference on the ISM bands due to highly gained parabolics we use at each site. We use 6 degree beamwidth.. Which is a must |

1 edit | Commercial services are practically available throughout the entire greater Montreal area including the North Shore upto St-Jerome,w est Hawsksbury area, East Repentigny+. Excluse the downtown core. Old Montreal should be up soon.
If you have a desired address to verify, please IM me with postal code here, or use our service request on our website .

1 edit | Again, we specialize in COMMERCIAL SERVICES!!!! That being said for the millionth time, it kinda makes sence that the downtown CORE would not be the top on our list of places to light up, as fiber is widely available
Our FTTH residential services are for high rise buildings ONLY! Mainly outside the core of the city center. |

| reply to SkyNetCanada I'm not sure why there's so much animosity here. This looks like a company selling Commercial highspeed. These numbers are completely doable. And With QOS. For those that work with 802 based equipment they might seem unreal, but RedLine, Dragon Wave, and a dozen others can deliver this without breaking a sweat.
FYI To the OP:: You REALLY want to be careful with the "Wireless Fiber" label. I know of another ISP in Canada that was sued for exactly that type of naming practice. If it's not fiber and it's IS wireless then that statement itself leaves you open for lawsuit.
RE: "Free Wireless for Life" : There's nothing Sketchy there - the company is trading "Access Point" locations for Free service. Hell if they can get a rooftop in Montreal for FREE (really it is free to them in terms of true cost) then that's an excellent deal for THEM! - I'd expect to pay upwards of $400 per month PER antenna for decent urban roof top locations. |

| I have no clue either why some have some animosity towards SKyNet Canada. I would like to think that one would be appreciative of such a service and pricing.
Yes rooftop trade-off is completely free to building owner.
I appreciate the heads up on the slogan. I will have legal counsil look at this. They way I see it, its a fiber optic connection delivered via wireless... ? ...

  coverage
@videotron.ca
| I think it's ok if it works as sold. If people can't get it now, then maybe some other time. Coverage comes with time.
When Teksavvy rolls out FTTH (or whatever they plan on) are you going to say, "the current coverage as insufficient" (heh I probably would )
They put some dishes up pretty fast.
That being said, a coverage map would still look good. |

| reply to SkyNetCanada Another thing to consider is the "free for life". You should remove this ASAP, before you wait for your lawyers.
Lookup "free for life" and "3web". The day you are no longer able to provide this service, expect lawsuits galore and you'll have to declare bankrupcy or sell your assets to some other outfit before you declare bankrucpy and fold. Every customer you acquire while this catch phrase is still up is a customer who ca sue you to force you to continue to offer this service forever. |

1 edit | Hmm well I offer this service free for life as long as our antennas are still on the roof free of charge... Agreement is between Skynet Canada and building owner. Dont see a problem with this.
Ifcourse there are specifics to the agreement, but this is basically the deal. Exchange of service.
Anyone have anything else to pick at? Dont think my sox are exactly the same black today. lol |

Your statement can be very misleading for some people not tech savy enough. You should label your service as wireless only since it is your "last-mile" connectivity. |
