By Fall of next year, we should be setting our sites on Quebec City. We have already been approached by companies wanting to partner to light up the GTA area. I have not given this much thought at the moment as we must first complete our MTL roll out and we are actually quite busy at the monent trying to get as many major installs as possible done before the damn sub zero temps.. Ill have to get back to you on the GTA rollout |

| reply to SkyNetCanada I went on the website, but it's not clear what the speeds are, it can't really be 40Mbps, can it? How much are the speeds for the 59.95$? And how much are the caps? Not trying to bash, genuinely interested for when my current contract is up and checking my options |

1 edit | This is starting to vear of course from original topic which makes reference to commercial services.
Our residential FTTH service is exclusive at the present time to high rise buildings only.
May we please get back on topic which was just a pointer to commercial reviews starting to come in. |

People are eager for a high speed alternative that does not rely on bell or rogers or videotron et al...a shrewd businessman might want to act quickly at such a time.
I'm just saying.... |

1 edit | my last off topic reply..
One also must consider infrastructure costs that can reliably offer such speeds to the mass's plus ROI for a 59$ a month plan. There is no way right now to offset thousand dollar installation costs to offer such speeds to single dwelling homes, as you wont pay a thousand dollars for an install nor would I.. But I will say that I have some sort of offering to the general public up my sleeve that will be announced once I satisfied with service propogation and system limits. |

»SkynetCanada.com - Wireless Fiber to Home ?
quote: For everyone interested by Skynet offers, I invite you to read the following...
When I saw qweloo's post about that new business, I thought "Nice, a newcomer!". But what a deception when I saw their website. Everything made it look like a scam, especially the "free for life" offer. This is where I started my deeper investigation.
I went to the "Registre des entreprises du Québec" website and I lookup for the famous "Skynet Canada" name. I found a business under that name regisered in Saint-Eustache near Montreal with one of the owner named Christopher Wassiliu. Great, that matches the "Mr. Wassiliu" found on Skynet's website. But when you look closely on the government file, you can find it's contact address. This is where things get messy.
A simple lookup on 411.ca reveals this is a used car dealer (Automobiles R & S). WTF is that? Looking even deeper in the government file, the business address registered is a Uniprix pharmacy in Blainville, which means this is a PO Box !
I then decided to Google his full name, Christopher Wassiliu. First and second results: satellite hacking forums. Hmmm interesting, he seems to be already involved into some sort of "wireless scamming"! »www.dssftp.com/forum/archive/ind···018.html »forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages···756.html
Third link, a judgment from the Supreme Court of Canada. Hmmm, we should have a look on jugements.qc.ca ! A lookup with his name under the "Cour du Québec" reveals he was involved as a third party in a dangerous driving case. For those who can read french, it's over here: »www.jugements.qc.ca/php/ti.php?l···446b.doc
Here is a translation of the paragraph [29]:
"Mr Wassiliu has a criminal background denoting a lack of honesty. As a teenager, he made false checks. At one occasion, he did not returned a video tape borrowed. At 16-17 years old, while his driving license was suspended, he used someone else's name on several occasions."
This document also revealed he his a sport bike owner.
After reading all of this, one could say "Yeah, but there's no proof this is the same guy behind Skynet".
A simple search for Skynet Canada on DSLReports and I found this post on Videotron's forum: »Re: Internet Haute Vitesse Affaire.. throttling / ports bloqu&ea
Again, a Google search for that nickname (mickeymouse690) reveals several posts on Mikrotik forums and a beautiful Youtube video... Busted !

1 edit | reply to fearan May I ask your point? We have all dumb stupid things in the past, and some people (like yourself) also like to slam a person and create rumours when they gain success (like in my success with satellite products) I have nothing to hide. I have been self employed since I was 20yrs old many many moons ago. Fearan, are you able to say the same? I have been a WISP for almost 4 yrs and believe strongly in offering more for less, hence my success in the satellite industry which inturn has paid for my WISP companies which inturn benefits end users. I offer a solid service and product for WAY LESS than I have seen or found research on via the entire WWW.
I DO NOT believe in sucking the most from a customer at all costs and STRONGLY believe that if I can offer more, than I will offer it.!
I have also just informed my residential customers in the laurentians that I will be offering a bandwidth upgrade free of charge to all existing customers. That means they will be getting upto 4Mbs up from there existing 1.5Mbs damn FREE! WHY? cause I can. How in this case? I am connecting a part of my SkyNet network to main infrastructure of my other WISP up north. This saves me operating costs up north. How many companies do you know that make a move to save money plus upgrade substantially current service to customers FREE.. I cant personally name 1...
I have previously stated that my dream is to TRY and change our current broadband situation by trying to persuade the big guys to change, damnit where one of the worst BB providers in the darn world.
In closing, no matter how hard ppl try and discourage the good things when they just cant believe it themselves or think to themselves why didnt I think of that (like kewlkeed calling my domain name supplier and trying to have skynetcanada.com removed) I move forward even harder and make things even better with an even greater vision. One could say criticism makes me stronger. I guess so.
I sincerely hope there are ppl out there that praise others when they see a good thing.
I hope there are many of you hear that will encourage what so far seems like a very promising endeavour and service. I know good things dont come easy.
Those support.! = I sincerely appreciate Those that hate! = Keep on hating my friends, cause boy SkyNet is gonna be big and Im going to make some ppl nervous soon enough
Thx all for your time in reading this and to those that support my companies.. |

I'm thinking some of you have an agenda you're keeping secret. There's way too much hate here for it to be coincidental. |

XITEL does fibre to home in certain areas of Trois Rivières. So you are not the first/only one in Québec.
"Wireless Fibre" sounds strange, like Bell claiming its copper ADSL is an optical fibre network.
My impression of your web site is that this is at a concept stage rather than something actually implemented. coverage maps and detailed pricing, service features etc would be needed to add credibility to your service.
You might also want a page about installation issues (do you require antenna on roof ? what is invlved with fibre-to-home installation etc.
And in terms of this forum, you should be providing far more technical details since it is populated by a bunch of tech-hungry geeks. How is yuour FTTH implemented ? GPON ? or do you have much longer fibre runs to each home, each with their own bandwidth ? |

| said by jfmezei :"Wireless Fibre" sounds strange, like Bell claiming its copper ADSL is an optical fibre network. Pretty much. Since he says "wireless fiber", I would ignore the fiber part and presume this is primarily wireless, not FTTx.
The only fiber in "WiFiber" is the part about achievable speeds being high enough for WiFiber links to be viable alternatives to actual fiber for some applications. |
