| Does that your router support TCP window scale and TCP ECN? Try pull router out of it and do directly connect it since that you have configured 1MB buffer and try it to see any improvement without using router? -- Professional Linux environmental blows microsoft windows out of the water. |

1 edit | said by Ikyuao :Does that router support TCP window scale and TCP ECN? like I said earlier in my previous post so please reread my previous post... Forgive me but I do not understand what those functions are nor what they do. No need for the wise-ass crack, I'm just asking for some help.
I checked the datasheet and specs for this router and do not see either of those options/functions listed. |

| reply to RealDeal Let's start here and see what it does ....
Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 256960
Set Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NICs (Ethernet adapters) MTU to 1500.
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

So it's obviously something with my router (DGL-4555).
Any suggestions? |

| reply to RealDeal If that your router isn't doing any good job of handling a speeds that is real problem is your router but not your TCP stack configuration problem... If you aren't happy with router hardware handles a speeds then I may suggest that finding very good firewall software for your windows OS so you may have to test the firewall software at »https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 that is for firewall testing to see if that firewall application is still allowing echo request and echo reply packets that you don't want that ICMP packets going inbound to your computer.
My Linux computer box with Iptables firewall is very, very good firewall packet filter that i write the script of iptables firewall packet filter to customize my suit needs -- Professional Linux environmental blows microsoft windows out of the water. |
