| problem with guide data on SD boxes since 1.7 IMG upgrade
Ever since the upgrade to 1.7 IMG my 2 SD boxes lose their guide data at least once per day and I have to reset the box to get it back. It won't come back by just leaving it sitting there, nor by turning it on and off. The only thing that worked was a complete power loss shutdown and restart.
Worse, since I want parental controls on, when the guide data is lost ALL of the channels are blocked since it has no guide data to determine if its should be blocked or not - so I had to turn off parental controls just so channels will even be shown.
This is a real pain, anyone else having this problem?
I know its not a problem with the guide data or connection itself since my HD box (MR-DVR) is fine and never loses the guide data.
HELP PLEASE. |

| reply to markanon We don't have 1.7 yet, so I can't say. But I have a couple recommendations. Instead of pulling the plug on the box, try scrolling forward a couple days in the guide. Bring up the guide, and hit the ffwd button a couple times. See if that forces the box to pull in the guide data.
Second, have you tried resetting your box? Not just unplugging it, but resetting it. That might take care of it. Here's how:
- Go to verizon's website and log into your My Verizon account (you can either get there from the My Verizon link on the menu bar, or over on the far right where it says Manage Your Account). Note, you have to register to get this account. If you don't have one, I would set it up - it's real useful to have. - Once in, on the grey menu bar select the My Services link. - Now select the My TV link on the left (in the red box). - You should now see a box on the right titled My TV Equipment. You'll see your set top boxes listed - unfortunately they only list them by serial number, which you can get by looking at the bottom of your set top box. - Put a check next to the set top box in question, and hit the Reset link below.
At this point a signal will get sent to your box resetting it. It'll take a minute to come back. Note, you may have to reset up things like your parental controls after this. See if that fixes it. |

| I am also in North Texas and have 1.7. My SD box (QIP2500-3) has not lost the Guide data since the upgrade. However, I just went and checked and the Guide data was down to 3 days, I don't know why as it was 7 days a few days ago. As JPL suggested I went forward past that point and the data updated immediately.
I guess this doesn't help, except that at least for me 1.7 has not caused any Guide data loss other than perhaps not keeping as many days in advance as it should. -- Justin Verizon FiOS TV and Internet Motorola QIP6416 HD DVR Sony KDL-V40XBR1 |
