Getting what you pay for with Suddenlink in Greenville NC?

Im in Greenville NC, at my address i was quoted 12mb for 59.99 a month.

I was just wondering if most of you are getting what your paying for .. the upper speeds. I think they offer up to 20mb in some areas. I would just like to know this before making the jump.

Will i get 12mb down?
Thanks in advance.

I have the 10MB and I get it. I've found my connection to be very reliable. I'm located off Old Firetower at the Charles Blvd. end.

Here's my line monitor for the last few weeks in case you're interested. The gap on the left is my fault, caused by a router misconfiguration during an upgrade.

I live near the hospital. I cannot say that i always get what i pay for. Almost everyday the speed drops to 1-1.5 Mbps from 7pm to midnight or longer. Early morning-early evening is usually fine. if you are in an area with only houses and no big apartment complexes, you may get full speed during peak hours also.

I'm over near the Greenville Grande and regularly get above the 12mb. Normally I get bursts up to 25mb that stay at that rate for a minute or so and slowly trickles down to 15mb and stays there consistently.

However different areas of Greenville make a huge difference to the performance you will get.

Tucker Estates on Red Banks Rd. here. Have 8 mb down and usually come pretty close. As a previous poster stated, it depends where in Greenville you live.

I live in Planter's Walk (Firetower & 14th) and my connection has been rock solid. I have a 12mb connection but I see speeds anywhere from 10mb to 30mb, but it avgs about 15mb.

I can't wait for SL's response to CenturyTel's new speeds!

I'd wait until Emarq's merger is complete and new speeds are rolled out.

Yeah you should def wait. From talkin with the other Embarq/CenturyLink techs and engineers, they have basically all told me to expect increase download and uploads speeds services coming very very soon. I look forward to it myself:)

well i hope its soon.. Im thinking they are more focused on getting new customers by supporting more rural areas than they our about improving our speed. I know i could get more than 5mb cause i consistent download higher then my cap.. just a lil:)

Ill give them a lil while.

I usually get my full 8 Mbps at my place on the 8 Mb tier. I'm at Sunchase off of 10th and Greenville Blvd.

I just recently dropped my SL internet service.

I do miss the speeds, but I don't miss the slowdowns and the dropped World of Warcraft sessions every day.

Good luck.

Well i decided to try em out anyway.. after i had some billing issues with embarq. I currently have 2 DSL lines both only 5mb of course... if i could get 10mb from embarq i wouldnt have went with suddenlink.

Now this is what its like off peak time:

Now i test higher then that during the day but when peak time comes most days im affected and get down to 2mb.

Im keeping my DSL cause i do alot of downloading and some gaming and i dont like to share my connections:) So for now im happy with 12mb service for about 18 hours of the day.

Well that is impressive. In my area peak time starts around 7pm and lasts well past midnight.

This is what i am getting on a 8 Mbps connection. It has been like this for the past year and a half.

Did not realize SL offered 12 Mbit service in the G'ville area. Thought they only offered 8 and 10.

How much is the 12 Mbit service? I pay for 8 Mbit and it's $44.95 per month. I'm in Nashville, NC.

lazl0

@suddenlink.net
$56.95, unless you have a bundle deal I believe.

I've recently been seeing commercials saying $20 for internet, but it doesn't say what package, and all the print is to small and to quick for me to see, and I don't have my DVR anymore.
