Are the two linked in any way ?
Heard back on this just now, and they are linked, meaning if you disable SpyNet, you'll also disable Dynamic Signature Service.

 Thanks, Aaron - I figured as much. I enabled Spynet again.

I would note that the freqency of "calling home" on Spynet has diminished markedly in the last 2 days.

Figure out a new name - Spynet is just too obvious - even to non-paranoics like me !
