sweet. i'll have to check that edge card program. do i just need to give them the console and power supply to get the $50 credit? i don't think i want to pay ms anymore money to get it fixed with the chance of rrod again in the future, plus i don't really have a need for 2 360's. might as well get rid of it and get something in return. i just noticed that the power supply is a little bit smaller and lighter than the power supply from my launch 360.
are jaspers 'rrod proof' or will that never be possible on the 360? |

| i can include the video cable and controller along with the power supply and console. i can't find any details about the trade in offer on ebgames.com. will i still get the $50 credit even though it's rrod? i didn't know that the jaspers were rrod proof. it makes me feel somewhat better for having to buy a console twice but i guess it's no too bad because i got close to 4 years from my 20gb pro. |

1 edit | They're nearly rrod proof, but getting them to rrod is highly improbable from normal use. I have had my 360 running nearly 24/7 with proper ventilation and is still cool to the touch knock on wood *Knock*
A working 360 trades in for $70, rrod goes for half that, and then trading in any console when you have an edge card that gets an extra $20 store credit. This brings the total to $55, I just traded in my console in last month when I found out Gamestop does take in rrod consoles. I assume they pay about $100 (just like anyone else does without warranty) to get each rrod traded in fixed. They sell these consoles off at $160 each, so there isn't really any profit in it for them, which is probably why they don't advertise it. |

| was the rrod 360 that you traded in out of warranty or did you not want to wait a couple of weeks to ship your 360 to ms and have it fixed and then have the possible chance of it rrod'ing again in the future? mine is out of warranty so i'd have to pay $100 and i didn't want to go through the back and forth game with them if it rrod again in the future. plus i couldn't see myself without my 360 for a couple weeks at a time. i use netflix almost every day. |

| It had been out of warranty for three months (launch console like yours). I weighed the options of $100 repair with a long wait and older mobo and still no warranty or $200 with no wait, current mobo and warranty, to me the extra $100 made more sense.
Netflix was fine for the two week trial I had, coming from never having had cable before, I didn't think the monthly netflix fee was worth it when I was doing just fine before I had it. |

| looks like great minds think alike. i'll probably end up trading mine to gamestop to get the $55 credit. i already have it boxed up and ready to go. guess i'll use the credit for cod mw2.
if i want to move my files from my 20gb hd to my new 120gb do i have to manually download everything again from my xbl account? i saw that there's a data transfer cable but don't i need to have both 360's online at the same time in order to transfer the files over to the new hd? i'm not too familiar with the process or the best way to go about doing it. |

| Lol. I didn't get an elite model so I had to redownload everything manually, however for this route to work you have to transfer your license to the new 360 or the downloads won't recognize the console as the one you use but the one with the RROD. |

| i forgot that you mentioned that you got an arcade and just easily connected your 20gb to the new console. that's what i'm doing for now but i'd eventually like to move my files to the new 120gb. thanks for sending the link. it doesn't seem too bad. |
