Pinging servers
Question;
If the servers are overloaded then would one get long ping times to those servers? Of course this would only apply when they were overloaded ?

I had time out problems between 9:30 and 10:30 this morning, but nothing since. Anyone else....we are into the normal time out period for me, but it is working. Crossing my fingers. |

I am continuing to have errors reaching the pop server. I chatted with ELM support....they are still working. Still the tech wanted me to empty my outbox of all things. Strange advice. |

I haven't had a timeout error yet (I've got T-bird set for 60 seconds) but the pop servers are slow and taking almost all of that time to make the connection. |

I received my first error at 12:08 am Central time. However, it was not a time out error, but a failed to connect error. I have my timeout set at 60 seconds. Funny, about 10 minutes later it found the pop server and downloaded one incoming email. I guess the server fades in and out on no particular schedule. |

My server is pop.mindspring.com and using Eudora.
But timeout error does not relate to mail soft. Iphone shows
same error. I do not remember but this issue started a couple week before.
very frustrating ! Even POP server does not respond well, usually web mail working fine under such condition.
Any suggestion ? |

I have been rebuilding my PC for the past few days and I had hoped that when I got the new one up and running they would have the problem fixed. But alas, just after 11am local time the error began to show up again. I just contacted ELM tech support to make sure that I know that they know they still have a problem.
I wonder if some accountant put their server room on a tariff that allows the electric supplier to interrupt service? Either that or someone is going to buy vanilla ice cream at about the same time everyday They should buy pistachio and we would not have this problem. |

Same problem here with pop.mindspring.com and pop.sprynet.com. Problem has been on & off for two weeks. Live Chat says they are working on it. |

| I experienced the same issue around the same time this AM and the whole thing is getting very old. The EL servers are working properly, what have they done to the MS servers?
I did notice one thing, if I click Stop using Mail Washer (older version 1.32) when it gets stuck on the first MS server (it checks 4 EL and 4 MS addresses) and then hit Check Mail, it will eventually get all the responses, but it takes 5 to 9 retries.

This read out time error last too long !!!
I guess that pop.mindspring.com server is given very limited capacity or bandwidth. I do hope I am wrong. |

The time out demon has struck early today..I began getting it before 10am local time....and then as I write this I begin to get email again.
Doc....I have noticed that if I get timeouts for an hour or so, if I send myself email from another account and then immediately have Eudora check my mindspring mail...it will connect and push out all the other email that has not been delivered.
I contact ELM Customer non support every day by chat and they type the same thing out of their notebooks every day. Somehow I do not believe that my case has been elevated to priority status.
This issue first showed up for me four weeks ago yesterday. If they cannot figure out what the problem is in that length of time they need to get out of the business...some would say they are already out of the business.
In any event, I am now ready to call another DSL provider and begin talks with them.
Since the Diwali celebration begins in India on Saturday I do not suspect too much more work will be put into solving this problem. |
