I doubt he will be able to install it it on the side of your house (Size) of the A-9 Dish is too large, If the rain is too bad (down pour) and if no lighting or thunder the installer may find it hard to dither your dish in correctly.

I hope you can get it installed and don't have to wait for a later date, but you want to have the best possible experience and if the dish is out of whack at the start, your experience will not be a good one. Good Luck

right. i didn't realize the size of the dish. well, he may be able to put it right on the corner of the roof. if he has to reschedule, so be it. i want the best possible signal.

RJ45 on the back of the Receiver-Either wired Cat 5 or 6, Wireless game adapter , or powerline adapters can be used.

My Hr22-100 has two RJ45 used as a brideg so I can connect to my network with one and connect a Blueray or TV set with second rj45. (two for one)

D* has a Connection kit they sell or you can use anything off the shelf.
So what does the pair of adapters they want to sell you for $29.00/each do?
Why would I want to purchase them if I can connect RJ45 between my Router LAN port and the Receiver RJ45 port.?

DUH?- Those adapters plug into the rj45 port for a Wireless adapter to connect to area that (Someone) my not be able to get a hard wire connection to.

That is one example, they, D* offer that to customers who might not be as tech smart as you are.

ok. everything is setup and running great. got the wireless adapater up and running. however, i wanted to hook up the external hard drive that i had used with my cable dvr which uses a sata connection. when i plugged in the hard drive and connected it to the sata port on the back of the dvr, nothing comes up letting me know that it' utilizing the external hard drive. am i doing something wrong?

An eSATA drive has to be connected with the power to the DVR completely off (as in unplugged). When you reapply power, the DVR does a complete restart, and will format the eSATA drive (might take a while). There is, to the best of my recollection, no direct indication as to the fact that the external drive is in use.

It used to be that the temperature sensor was part of the hard drive mechanism - and if the external drive is in use you'll get a false (as in very low) temp reading in the DVR menu/diagnostics page. I believe that's still true - but can't swear to it. The 'normal' reading for an in-use HR2x DVR is around 100F depending on the airflow around the unit.

ok. thanks for that info. one more thing. now that i have the wireless gaming adapter and i have my linksys wireless n router, is the wireless n adapter operating at "n" speeds? I have some other devices on my network with "g" hardware. I have the router set to "mixed" mode. the guy at radio shack told me that even in mixed mode the n hardware will operate at n speed and the g hardware will operate at g speed. however, someone else just told me that it will only operate at g speed regardless if i have n speed hardware in a mixed enviornment. to me it would make sense that the n would operate in n and the g will operate in g in a mixed mode. can anyone confirm?

Wireless N connects at wireless N speeds regardless of having a mixed network with other G equipment on it.

The only time it won't connect at N speeds is if the signal quality is low and then it defaults down to a slower speed.

I think there are forum rules saying no referrals are to be asked for at this site.

I don't know what's confusing to you.

Site rules govern the entire site and apply everywhere.

Forum rules are specific rules instituted by the Forum Hosts as supplements to the site rules. In no case can a forum rule 'override' a site rule.
