 Motorola SB6120?

Hello,

Has anyone had any experience getting a Motorola SB6120 modem working on the WOW system? I tried and after registering my MAC address my speed was 505 on a 8meg download tier. WOW tech support is stumped because they cannot see the modem at all on the system. They don't even understand how I am pulling an IP if they can't see it but I am.

WOW support is at a loss and so I was wandering if anyone else is using this modem successfully?

In the meantime, I am online via a Motorola SB5100.

Honestly, you're better off just paying the $2.50/month and renting a modem. You're in for nothing but hassles with your own modem.

I've had a SB5100 for a few years now. I always wonder if I should have rented when I have performance issues. for the most part its fine. my concern is if I'm missing any updates due to the fact I own my modem. any talk of docsis 3.0 for wow yet?

Playing with it, that's about it from what I've heard. They're gonna have to step up to the plate and do some big upgrades here soon.

I've had a SB6120 for 4 or 5 months on WOW in Evansville Indiana (acquired from Sigecom.net) and I have the exact same issue as John13. Hook it up, call in the MAC address, they can't see it but it runs like a dog. I have 12/1 service and it's about as slow as dial-up. I try it about once every month but to no avail. Always go back to my SB5101 and it won't even run at 12/1. Every time I call to complain they give me the same old BS about not guaranteeing speed on a customer owned modem!!
