1 edit | Of course you can!! What servers do you have that could be so critical that you can't have a few minutes cut over? Get your new service setup, configure all the necessary DNS changes, and the changes should propogate in half an hour or less. For email just setup your new IP as a backup MX then switch it to primary when you have cut over. This is a non issue.
You could also try doing it at 2 AM. That should minimize the inconvenience. Why do you think ISPs schedule their maintenance about that time? |

join:2001-02-12 New York, NY | Set your TTL to 5 minutes a few days before the transition to minimize propogating the DNS. Lots of companies with services that are probably more mission-critical than your's do this all the time. |
