Finally new HD channels in Greenville

SL has finally got off their butts and are allowing Greenville to have new HD channels (but their the ones that most of NC has had for over a year).

New channels rolled out on 10/13 (supposedly)

Syfy HD
Disney HD
MGM HD

Channels being moved down the Basic HD Tier

Food Network
NatGeo
History

Thanks for the info shelby, pretty hyped up to get SyFy in HD. I'll be interested in checking out the MGM channel as well. Where did you get the info I had not seen this anywhere?

Shelby,
Here in Rocky Mount, we are normally looked down on worse than Greenville. We're getting similar, except instead of DisneyHD, we're getting FoxSports South, and we still don't have HistoryHD, basic or plus.

Lazl0,
I only ever see this info on Ch1 on the digital cable boxes. If you call the customer service reps, you will get 1) I don't know or 2) a lie. At least that is my experience over the last several years with Suckenlink. Like how they swore up and down we would have VOD for the last 2 years. I swear they train them to lie.

On a positive note, normally around here they add these new services earlier than stated on Ch1. Not sure why, but when adding USAHD, FXHD, and even FBN, they popped up about 2 weeks before their "live" date.

Now if only my 2 wishes would be granted. Get an updated cable box/DVR that doesn't belong in 2002, and all of my monthly payments going to those lousy commercials. I swear they alone make me want to cancel.

Yeah I've noticed that the channels usually show up a bit early as well. Maybe they just have an official launch date but have it open for testing beforehand?

For some reason I always forget about channel 1, thats probably where the info came from.

It was on our October bill statements.

Don't expect much more than a test pattern on FSS HD. That's all they've had for over a year.

I've been craving SyFy HD for over a year now. Most of the NC markets got it right before the last season of Battlestar Galatica. And that show alone almost made me drop my SL service.

The HD content really depends on how less shity your market's cable plant is then the next one over.

The new HD channels have been turned on.

I'm very surprised that SL actually got the new channels on but I'm more shocked that their up almost two weeks before scheduled.

Yeah... and now they make the HD Plus tier look incredibly worthless. $8 a month for just HDNet, HDNet Movies and MGM? That's just absurd. I could understand it if there were more channels as part of that tier, but $8 is just way too much for three channels.

Your right $8 a month for those channels is pretty bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if they move some "free" channels to that tier.

Lets face it, it took them over a year and half to get us those channels, we're not getting anymore for awhile.

Heh, guess what? If you check this month's bill, you'll notice that they're jacking the price on digital cable service to "justify" the new channels effective December 1.

How much did they go up?

Depends on the number of tiers. For me it was $2 or $3, I forget how much exactly.
