| Software / guide to help laptops consume less power?
I think there was some software that helps save laptop battery drain - but turning off USB and etc etc etc...
any one knows the name of the software?
also what other things can one do? - like the obvious is to turn the LCD display brightness to the minimum... - what else?
Thank you... |

| You really should already have the software that you need to custoimize your energy savings while on battery power. Most or all of this should be available in your notebook's power plan software, it is with my HP notebooks. Some of it you need to go into "advanced" settings" but it is easy enough to access.
Obviously screen brightness is a big factor, but you can also turn on/off USB ports/WiFi/Blue Tooth, as well as even the amount of CPU power (most modern mobile CPUs can be set at energy-saving levels, but of course with that comes reduced performance).
The trade off is always how much energy-savings versus system performance do you want to make. -- Deeds, not words |

| reply to inGearX With my vista x64 laptop, vista already provides tons more detailed options to set in advanced power management settings than any microsoft OS ever had. I love it. It gives me detailed control over everything that consumes power, and yes, I do mean everything. |
