eastern AR, suddenlink vs centuryTel. thoughts? prices?

i am doing some research for my brother who lives in Marvel, AR. it seems his ISP options are centurytel dsl or suddenlink cable. do any of you have thoughts with either or both? how do the prices compare? what are the things to look for in researching both options (special pricing or packages, etc).

i've posted this in both the suddenlink forum and centurytel forum.

thanks in advance.

out there
There are quite a few reviews for both companies so that should help you out some:

»User reviews - CenturyLink

»User reviews - Suddenlink

Keep in mind, with cable internet, you have to share. 1 cable runs to everyone. Not that way with dsl & phone line.

Go DSL!

It is all shared at some point, we have seen our share of bandwidth issues from remote terminals in this forum in the last year.

As tstolze said, there's some sort of sharing at some point. If you have 12 Mbps in T1s going to a remote terminal that's actually less bandwidth than is available per-channel on Suddenlink. Here, DSL is actually less reliable speed-wise than cable...

Bottom line: your mileage may vary by area. SL is great in some places, horrible (but improving) in others. I'm pretty sure the same can be said of CTel.
