| NIM light blinking!
Hi ALL,
I have an older set up using a plain old router and a NIM. I don't need WiFi so I never changed from using the NIM and its been working just fine. Today I noticed that one of the two green LEDs on the NIM is blinking, when they always have been steady on. The blinking LED is for the RF. I though this may be a problem so I turned on the TV and then the DVR and everything seemed to be OK. I ever tried to search for some shows and view a trailer from VOD and they both worked. So it seems that the DVR is able to get network data. EDIT: I just tried to access my DVR from TV Central but it didn't get any data from the DVR - but that has stopped working before so it may not have anything to do with the NIM.
Anyway, does anyone know what it means when the RF LED is blinking on a NIM?
Thanks, Gerry |

| I also have a NIM. I just went downstairs and looked and the RF light is flashing. I believe this is nothing new, as I noticed it flashing the other day when I moved it onto a different shelf in the entertainment center under my downstiars TV.
I just checked and my Remote DVR works just fine. -- So put me on a highway, and show me a sign. And take it to the limit one more time... |

Thanks for the info. Did you ever notice that both lights were steady on. I have my NIM in a home run cable phone box in the laundry room and I always notice it when I'm doing laundry, and both lights have always been steady on. But its nice to know that the light blinking does not seem to affect the DVR's operation.
As far as the remote DVR its stopped working in the past. Now that I think about it we had a power failure and I'll bet when the power came back on the DVR got a different IP address and when that happens you have to disable and then re-enable the remote function at the DVR and that usually gets the remote DVR working.
Thanks again, Gerry |

| I have my NIM100 downstairs in a room where we actually didn't have a TV hooked up until this past week. It was a good place to put it since there was both a coax and an ethernet drop there.
So, I didn't really pay much attention to it until I started moving things around when I was putting the TV in place the other day. -- So put me on a highway, and show me a sign. And take it to the limit one more time... |

| reply to Gerryex Hi ALL,
I just happened to notice that now my RF light on the NIM is on steady. I was also having a problem accessing the remote DVR functions on the web and just for fun I tried it and now it works again. I don't know if the blinking RF light had anything to do with preventing the remote DVR from working but now it is working!!!

I'd have to dig out the book for specs on the threshold. |

Thanks for the info. I haven't made any changes to my system yet for a while I was getting the blinking light indicating a slow speed and now its steady indicating a normal speed. Also while it was blinking I could not access my DVR remotely via the web, and now I can!!!
Anyone?
Thanks, Gerry |
