| [Rant] No Longer Running D-Link
After months of using a half-assed 655 with no word on any upcoming fixes, I finally sold it for $90 CAD and purchased a WNDR3700 for $130.
I could not be anymore happy, the WNDR3700 is a monster, a complete beast. Everything is working now, everything is seamless, I will not pay D-Link for their fuck ups.
Netgear WNDR3700, highly recommended. Next time D-Link should think twice before locking people into broken firmwares. -- I love fish sticks. I love putting fish sticks in my mouth. |

| Im still caught in limbo on what to do, stick with D-link for an '09 model or choose something else. The problem is I read the other forums too and some have similar problems to D-link, not crappy firmwares, just crappy routers and functionality.
I hate being in this position because I really don't know what to do or where to look for new routers. |

| reply to Fireblade I feel your pain.
I too was having to deal with this situation, and resolved it with the WNDR3700.
I almost have had a hard time adjusting to not hearing someone in the house complain about the network being f'd up!! |

I almost have had a hard time adjusting to not hearing someone in the house complain about the network being f'd up!! The performance on that router is insane, the highest transfer I could get with 1.32/DIR655 on N was 7.83 MB/Sec - same EXACT setup, I'm rocking a little over 31-33 MB/Sec, that's right MB/Sec - NOT Mbit/s! I'm connecting to my N network at about 345 Mbits, wonderful device. -- I love fish sticks. I love putting fish sticks in my mouth. |

| reply to Fireblade DLINK problem is hardware not working with the firmware. There's the problem right there. No matter what version of DIR-655 A1, A2, A3, A4, B1 that darn DNS Relay and DHCP Reserved/Revoked will always be an issue with their wireless N routers. I think they should go back to the drawing board and think of how their Wireless G routers AirRouter was made. Xtreme N, GameRule N and etc are junk. I like DLINK but after spending over $100 for a plastic business/home router to only work up til 6 months then started to act up after updating firmware after firmware because the darn thing wasn't meeting FCC rules for operation.
Belkin N+ offers pretty much the same features of the DIR-655 but none of the crappy DNS Relay issues plus it has additional 16MB of RAM buffering for a total of 32MB instead of the 16MB that fills up so fast in most of these routers. Now with the introduction of DIR-655 B1 with 64MB and 475MHz cpu they still have issues with that hardware too.
Anyway this is how I see it.. |

| The problem is with the firmware as well as the hardware, I was running 1.11 for months without an issue, I had it running for 6 months without shutting it off once. It ran like a charm, as soon as I upgraded to 1.31 and 1.32, POS was finished. -- I love fish sticks. I love putting fish sticks in my mouth. |

I am not a Linux programmer I am Windows programmer. I wish I could redo what DLINK did to the firmware for everyone here.
No go I did try.. |

| reply to Fireblade Hi all
I have a question about WNDR 3700, maybe a replace my dir-655 "hardware" !
I read in manual about speed in 2.4 Ghz-N, it says 1.45Mbt/s and in 5 Ghz-N 300Mbt/s. Is it only 1.45Mbt/s in 2.4Ghz ???
Those of you who have both DIR-655 and WNDR3700 can you write yours experience and compare this routers.
regards kthaddock |

1 edit | reply to ispgeek Usually ships within 1 to 2 months. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available
Yes amazon will have that router to you in one to two months lol. The last time I ordered an item from dell on sale they never shipped it. They kept on delaying it over and over again until I canceled the order. I'll wait until newegg has it instock before I buy if I go with that router. |

I also ordered a WNDR3700 and I hope I can get used to there setup pages. Because I have been using my DIR-655 for over 2 years. |

680MHz NPU 64MB of RAM 8MB of Flash Standard N
Wireless is base on the Atheros we all know how that was in the 655. |

Belkin N+ is my main gig and ap wireless N only router with WD Passport HDD (I had changed the FAT32 to NTSF with 4096KB block) connected to it has my NAS on USB. Then for wireless N extender I use DIR-655 since you can't use it for anything else until the firmware get sort out one day? |
