Re: Fox Channel 202 - Madison Heights

You can blame Fox if you like, but their encoder is still putting out a standards-compliant signal, and no other manufacturers' STBs have trouble with it aside from SA. Seems pretty clear to me that the blame lies with SA on this one.
Seeing as there are more Motorola STBs out there, no kidding that a Motorola encoder will work fine. And yes, there were people in that thread, just like I said here, that DTV DVRs have seen the issue to. So it's not just a SA thing. It's Fox and Motorola up to their usual douchebaggery. There was nothing wrong with the Tandburg encoders they had a few months ago. They did a quick and sloppy job at swapping them out and it's effecting a lot of viewers and making many unhappy.

SA had the same firmware available to their boxes before and after the Fox hack job and the problem cropped up after Fox did something, installed new encoders. SA didn't do anything and it was all fine before. Fox is the one to blame here. You can troll all you want and try to blame SA for it, but the issue wasn't there before Fox screwed with things.

Anyone who says they've seen this issue on DirecTV is mistaken, period. This issue is constant during all Fox Sports programming, and it happens on all SA HD STBs. I'm not saying that there has never been any issue with DirecTV STBs that may have caused a similar output, but this one in particular does not affect them.

It doesn't come and go on the SA boxes, so why would it come and go on DirecTV boxes? It's all the same signal. I realize that it pains you to admit that these heavenly SA boxes may not be perfect, but it's the truth.

So just because you don't see it on your DTV box means that no other box from DTV could have this issue? Please. In the thread you posted there were people that said they saw it with their DTV boxes. Nice try though.

Fox is putting out a 100% standards-compliant signal. SA's STBs are unable to handle their 100% standards-compliant signal. How is Fox to blame here?

No they aren't.

To shut up and quit calling people liars because they see something you can't.

Apparently they aren't.

How is Fox to blame here?
Well, lets see here. No problems were visible before the encoder changeover and now after the new ones are in there are major problems with their live sports feeds. hmmm... doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out that it's a Fox issue. I know it's hard for you to comprehend, I feel really bad for you.

I never called anyone a liar. I simply said that they were wrong.

The signal has been dissected and determined to be compliant. Standards compliance is not defined by what SA's STBs can handle correctly.

The rest of your post is pure trolling, so I'm not even going to bother responding. Please grow up.

Sure you did. By saying that they are wrong and aren't seeing the issues that SA boxes have, you're calling them a liar, and also me. I saw it, you didn't.

The signal has been dissected and determined to be compliant.
Not quite. They looked at it, and can't see what may be out of compliance, but there are a few things that are different now than they were with the Tandburg encoders. So don't tell me there isn't anything wrong. That's flat out incorrect.

I suggest you take your own advice. You've done nothing but troll the WOW forum here and have been nothing but a pain in the ass.

Really? I've looked over the ATSC specs. There is a lot of technical stuff in there, but I've never seen anything about SA's STBs being the benchmark for compliance. Would you mind pointing out that part of the spec for me?

I quoted wrong. But anywho, again, what changed from the night before the encoder swap at Fox? Hmmmm??!?!?! Mister Know-it-all? I'd love to hear you explain that? The night before the encoder swap all boxes had no problem. Then the day that the new Motorola encoders fired up SA boxes, Visio tvs, and select DTV boxes have issues? I hate to break it to you, Fox isn't doing something wright, period. I'm sorry that you just can't get the through your thick head, but it's a fact. It's a Fox problem.

WOWer

@wideopenwest.com

Did a change at Fox cause the problem? Yes.

That's not what I'm arguing. If Fox is putting out a compliant signal, which it appears that they are, any decoder should be able to handle that signal without issue. If it can't, then it is a problem with the decoder.

I'm coming at this issue with the assumption that the signal is compliant, because all of the evidence I've seen supports that. If that is indeed the case, while Fox could show some goodwill and change things back, they have no obligation to do so. If it's not the case, then Fox needs to fix their encoders to put out compliant signals, period.

I'm just happy to see that I am not the only one with this issue. I was going to wait until the Lions game tomorrow to see if it was still doing it and I was going to give WOW a call to see what they knew.

I notice it mainly during the snap of the ball. It simply stutters for a moment at the snap of the ball..almost like there is too much going on and it's unable to keep up with the action.

I've got a straight coax line in my bedroom going into my TV there and I watched a few weeks ago and didn't have the problem that I was seeing in my livingroom through my WOW SA cable box.

I too have only noticed this problem on Fox HD....all of the other channels are fine. I even tried resetting the cable box, powering it off....even thought for awhile that it might be my external SATA drive that I have connected.

But it looks like this is a far bigger problem.
