WNDR3700 = Goodness

It works, and that's all that matters.

Absolutely no problems since install yesterday. Running both wireless radios, bt, games, os updates, excellent speed wan-to-lan.

Great job Netgear, it was worth the wait!

Just to let you know... smallnetbuilder has post the WNDR3700 results to the charts. The numbers look really good for this product.
It is at the top or near the top in every category. I'm pleased.

How much did you pay, and does the firmware allow the encryption and SSID's to be independent on each network? I recall that the OF on the WNDR3300 required them to be identical, it was one of the reasons I'm now running DD-WRT on it.
Any word yet on a DD-WRT build for it?

I payed $154.00 for it, newegg had a $15 discount the day they released them.

The wireless networks are completely independent of each other, and there is not a hiccup one with this. I am running both with different ssid's and wpa2 and not a hitch to be found.

Redhawk over at the dd-wrt forum has black flagged the wndr3700, because he thinks it is realtek based. But the reality is it is atheros based, running a linux firmware. I'm hoping someone there is reading and realizes the mix up. ( I'm personally digging the fact that my wrt610n is running rock solid with dd-wrt now. )

I was using one as well, with a wrt610n as an ap for the upstairs running DD-WRT. The DGL-4500 kept on crapping out with the new 1.21NA firmware, requiring daily to bi-daily reboots to maintain network stability. This made the wife mad, and so i had to fix it, period.

Netgear to the rescue!!!

I'm glad I got lucky enough to get one when they went out on newegg's site, other wise I would still be in the doghouse.

All I can say is WOW. As everyone said, his thing is the real deal. The wireless range on this thing is impressive, to say the least.

I've been using a Linksys WRT600n with DD-WRT. To give you a comparison on the wireless, I have my router downstairs, at one end of the house and have a netbook I like to use in the bedroom upstairs, at the other end of the house. With the Linksys WRT600n I would usually get 2 bars and that's it. The quality would be listed as either fair or poor. I'd also get mysterious drops and reconnects, I'm sure due to the signal strength(or lack there of). With the WNDR3700, I get a SOLID 4 bars and it lists the signal as GOOD or EXCELLENT with no drops or anything. It stays rock solid. This is N on the 2.4ghz band btw. I am actually pretty shocked at how good of a signal I am getting from the router.

I think the worst thing about this router is the lack of availability. I had a heck of a time finding one. I ended up getting lucky the other morning when Frys.com had them in stock for shipping for about an hr. I got in on it and got it the next day. However, they went back out of stock for shipping about an hr after I ordered. So far nobody else I have found actually have them in stock.

This is probably the best N router out on the market, a lot of people know this - that's why they're hard to find. Expect the price to go up slightly too.

I checked bb a few minutes ago and they have a place holder for the unit but nothing is available yet. I hope they get them in soon. Improved availability should end the price gouging.

Fast is right !!! I am hitting 730 mb on lan to lan transfers and getting 27/30 on my internet and no more wireless issues from switching from the dlink 4500.

Well, just an update: Not a single reboot since the first day's install.
I'm impressed that there have been no slow downs, lockups or interruptions.

Got mine today and love it, got a sweet deal. Only problem I'm seeing is that I am on Comcast and for the past week I keep seeing blocked inbound requests. Put the new NEtgear in place and all was quiet for a few hours, now the Netgear is showing these as DOS attacks from multiple IPs. What should/can I do about this ?

I am also on comcast and I've monitored inbound requests and have seen a lot of foreign ip's requesting a connection.

Its strange because for me at least this has gotten a heck of a lot worse in the past week

I love this router also. Been running solid since I got it about week ago. Singal strength is beyond words -- strongest I've ever seen it at in my house (consistently 4 bars). Also, Amazon has it for $159 (looks like that is their regular price).

The only issues I've seen are the lack of detailed logs, SMTP mail of logs does not work regardless of mail server entered and finally QOS by MAC address won't show devices.

Anyone else seen these as well or know a workaround ?

Thanks

Do you have anything like a DVR or similar connected? I have a lot of chatter/log records from DTV HDDVR that is hooked up on network.

Nothing like that here, just a NAS that streams music to my 3808ci, and a XBOX360 streaming Netflix in HD. No issues as far as they are concerned. Overall, it's been kind of boring not having to check on things.
