[XPHome] Windows Xp Dell desktop deminsion 2400

I have recieved the blue screen of death that says something about the bad pool caller. It happened when I was trying to reinstall my computer, make it new again. I was told by someone at dell that I need to buy 2 gigs of memory, but I just purchased 1gig because it only had 256megs. Well anyways it still giving me the screen. And It wont let me go to the desktop, whenever I restart it, it picks back up with trying to reinstall. What can I do? My mom is still paying on this damn thing, has been since 2004, never get anything from dell online, they suck.

 Was this a clean re-installation?
What I mean did reformat the hard drive or was this a repair of the OS?
