Modem signal levels!

So four years ago our community got a new cable company. They have done a commendable job of re-building the plant. During the "dark years" the Motorola SB5100 upstream levels would go into the 50s and I'd experience some drops during the summer. Most of this summer levels have been great: downstream 4 to 6 and upstream 40 or 41. Now they've just replaced some more of the buried FiOp cable and the downstream is up to 9 and it's 70°F out. I'm wondering if come winter, at sub zero, the downstream levels may be to high or if it stays below 15 it's still fine? Thank You!

If your cable system has just been re-built, most likely they used good equipment. With that being said i would say you will not have much fluctuation in signal.

Usually signals will go up when its colder, but if they properly installed and set up the agc's on the amps, you should be ok. The agc's or the alc's maintain the amplifier levels at a preset level, from temperature fluctuations.

agc = automatic gain control

alc = automatic level control
