[HD] NFL Game Pass illegal in US?

Does anyone know why the NFL Game Pass is illegal in the United States

It has to be because of Sunday Ticket being exclusive to DirecTV.

What does this have to do with FiOS?

DirecTV pays a fortune to have exclusive rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket. It keeps them in business so it must be worth every penny to them...

Google for it and you will find numerous sites that list ways to get around the NFL game pass US restrictions. I have never tried it myself, so I don't know how well they work.

1st off mark they BID on it the same as Verizon can do. IF they make an insane bid on it Verizon can match it if they want to.

Youre out of luck... like the others said, its a DirecTV exclusive. So there's no online service or TV service that will let you watch every NFL game in the U.S. except for DirecTV.

There is going to be a test of the NFL Sunday Ticket online in the NYC metro area this season, but it costs over $350 and no idea of the video quality. The NFL Game Pass is blocked in the US, Bermuda, Canada, etc. So have to wait to see how the test goes with Directv/NFL this season in NYC, then if you can't get Directv you have that option for next season perhaps.

I don't dispute that but DirecTV needs the Sunday Ticket in order to survive and VZ FiOS does not. It's not truly exclusive but since the the price is cost prohibitive, it might as well be an exclusive deal...

Directv has nearly 24 million subs. Around 2 millions subs are Sunday tickets subs. That leaves around 22 millions people that doesn't sub to it. I think they are doing fine without the ticket.

I don't believe DirecTV needs it for survival, either. Yes, it's a huge deal for them and there are plenty of people who sub because of it, but they're service is excellent without it and better than most cable offerings. For all sports (especially in HD) there's no better choice.

My thought is Sunday ticket is its not supported by home owners but by businesses, and the costs are huge .. On large bar I know of spends 20X a month what a FIOS sub pays to get all the sports programming, Sunday football is their single biggest draw for sales, no surprise and to have every game playing is a cost of doing business.

DTV has a complete lock on this very profitable market as its nation wide, FIOS could never get the subscriber base to compete, but I do think its a very large part of what keeps DTV afloat, it might only be 10% of the subscribers, but its the 10% that pay 10-20X more!

I also think DTV is a good service but a bit more in cost compared to FIOS, except around here in the summer rainy season, the outages are almost daily due to rain fade but this is obviously a sub-tropical location issue, not what your average customer deals with.

I wonder how many of those 22 million switched to D* because of NFL ST but didn't re-up for it and never bothered to switch providers.

I was going to suggest the exact same thing...I have succumbed a couple of times to the siren singing of Sunday Ticket only to mutter to myself, why I can't have my $200 back and then to be stuck with paying well over $100 a month to watch TV...it's just not worth increasing your bill by $50 or so a month for 4 months a year when I get all 16 of my local teams games in HD.

Just my .02
