| [General] Alltel broadband w/ cyfre booster/router
Has anyone had any experience with alltel wireless broadband
in conjunction with cyfre ultimate EVDO / HSDPA hot spot kit.
We live in the sticks. A neighbor of ours has Alltel wireless broadband service and we tried his alltel antenna at our location. We got a signal but not as strong as his. Our alltel cell phones work here if you hold your mouth just right ( one bar).
Speed is not as important as a solid connection with the applications we run. Heaven forbid we have to go back to satellite.

Cobbs Creek, VA | You have the Cyfre kit right? What's your zip? The amp delivers superior results as long as you know where to place the antenna.

| No I do not own the ultimate evdo/hsdpa hotspot kit yet, just checking into it. We are about 6 miles from our tower. I only get one bar on a cell phone. However testing alltel's usb antenna ( my neighbor's ), at my location on his laptop I was able to pick up a web site showing a cattle sale with streaming video.
I checked the download speed on testmy.net and within minutes it ranged from 470 to 90 kbs.
So Jim, your saying the secret is the placement of the antenna ?

The antenna that comes with the Cyfre kit is a great performer. Locating it in an area that exposes it to the maximum amount of cell tower RF will certainly be beneficial to your signal.
