Is anybody going or thinking of going? I was thinking of going Saturday.

Wow, a reasonable schedule for an HSR event, that's a shocker.

Yeah, Historic Sportscar Racing... now the primary sanctioning body for anything "historic" which for HSR is a very loose term. They bought up SVRA last year but seemed to have let it be for the most part. When I first started flagging they had 2 events at Road Atlanta then dropped the fall event, that meant an incredibly jam packed Mitty which ran marshalls into the ground and pissed off racers due to lack of track time. This event was a very late edition to the schedule so I suspect it's to give those guys more track time.

Ahhhh, thanks for the info. I have only been in the area for a few months.
I used to live N. of Portland, OR, and would go watch the Historic races associated w/ the Rose Festival.
Nothing like watching a gull wing Mercedes worth 7 figures hit the wall.

Road Atlanta will blow you away, amazing track and great to spectate at. If you plan on going to Petit I'd suggest going up this weekend to get a lay of the land, Petit has been getting bigger and bigger every year. For club racing excitement I highly suggest the ARRC in November, we'll have LOTS of cars for the event... barn burner every year.

I agree, the track is just cool.

Took the California Superbike school at Road Atlanta. I could not think of a better track for it.

Have seen a few races there. Lots of places with good views.

seeder, did you get up there? How things go?

Not a biker but can imagine how fun the track would be on the bike, did they let you run the real turn 3/4 complex or did you have the run the chicane?

This was the old 1.9 mile track before they added the back part.

The backstretch shot right into the turn under the bridge. So you were doing 130 or so, brake hard and cut the turn. Pass under the bridge and the whole world drops away. You are still turning and the drop made the bike lose all traction. There were a few who made some unintended pit stops.

I have seen cars go airborne at the bridge.

The new track makes the approach much easier and safer.

My day on the tack was back in the '90s. Back when RA was rumored to be on the edge of bankruptcy. The track was in poor shape, lots of ripples, sloppy patches. I remember nearly ripping the footpeg off on the hairpin as there was this odd concrete patch that stood up 1/2".

I learned a lot about riding on rough pavement that day

I never got to work the old circuit, was just a youngin. For the bikes they did the chicane between 3 and 4... then the same rider board had the track put more chicanery in exiting 4 only to not use it once it was complete. Turn 12 also has been redone, they now come down the hill.... brake in a straight line and take a hard right to the front stretch. Bikes were apexing 12 at 130-140.

The work at 12 they did flows nicely actually... however the 3/4 chicane did fubar things. But I think they were doin 110 or so on the sweeper to setup for 4 and there is very little room drivers right for error (where you would go if you dropped the bike).
