So would there be any possible risk if I had my XBOX 360 on DMZ in my router? Could a poetential hacker get through when the XBOX is off, or even on? Or should I just stick with using port forwarding? |

| reply to bryank Well my main concern is that I sometimes drop from chat party's and not sure why. Most of the time my gameplay is fine, but was just wondering if DMZ would help. Being the XBOX is not exactly like a computer I didn't know if DMZ is safe or not. Currently, I have port 88 and 3074 port forwarded to my XBOX. |

| reply to bryank You may wish to look for a router or firmware that supports your Xbox 360 via UPnP. My Xbox 360 works fine and has never had port forwarding or DMZ set to it. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

Napsterbater Premium join:2002-12-28 Milledgeville, GA | reply to bryank As long as TCP 3074 UDP 3074 and UDP 88 are forwarded DMZ changes nothing and would not fix you Party disconnection problem. |

| Then again it dosn't make a diffrence.
DD-WRT has a UPNP which allows auto port forwarding for the Xbox 360 as well as other things and can allow more then 1 Xbox 360 to have open NAT if it is ever needed.
But if that's not need no point in changing anything now. -- AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE @ 3.5Ghz(OC) | 4Gb Memory @ 1600mhz | Sapphire ATI HD4870 1GB 800mhz/1000mhz(OC) | 2x500GB HDD's Raid 0 | Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Build 7100 |

Like Napsterbater said though, if it works, no need to change it.
According to portfoward.com, Xbox Live 360 requires you to forward the 53,80,88,3074 ports.
The dropping of chat connection may be due to your MTU setting, take it off the auto setting and change the entry of 1500 to 1492 and give this a try. It worked for some. -- Live Free or Die! www.sidux.com www.chronixradio.com

| reply to bryank If you want your x360 to be hacked put it on the DMZ, but keep in mind if you get hacked you complete void the warranty as Microsoft doesn't support stupid people!
They are very harsh when it comes their warranties.

Leathal With as many sights the tell you to DMZ and the amount of people that do it I would expect to have heard of a single case of where a 360 was hacked over its network port. Well I know for sure you can attacked, there is an story posted on DSL Reports this year of a guy who worked for Comcast Teir2 support who was attacked by an X360 gammer while on Xbox Live; he managed to find the kids IP and looked him up at work before calling his father who freaked out and smashed his kids x360 into little bits! )
It's not like the X360 has a firewall of it's own and we all know from experience if you stick a windows box on the internet (except for ISA server) it will be hacked in a matter of seconds.

Leathal Still there was nothing 'hacked' in the XBOX. It wasn't used as part of a Botnet. It wasn't loaded with viruses. It wasn't made into a gateway that allowed access to the rest of the internal network.
If port forwarding isn't getting the job done, try using the DMZ and see if it helps. I've run my 360 DMZ'd since I got it two years ago and yet to have had any problems. |

join:2000-03-23 Plainfield, IL | reply to bryank I was more concerned about the XBOX allowing the traffic through to my network to be hacked because it was DMZ'd. With the latest Xbox Live Update, my chats have been solid with no disconnects. |
