| TD-8816 or TD-8616?
My TD-8816 was just destroyed by the lightning yesterday.  So I need to buy another modem ASAP. Because PCV doesn't have the $20 deal right now, I am considering to grab a TD-8616 from Canada Computers. I always set the modem in bridge mode and let my wireless router handle the rest, eg PPPoE, routing, wireless, etc. For my case, is TD-8616 adequate? I am not clear about the inside, for my "modem only" purpose, any performance difference between these two? If TD-8816=TD8616+router features, I'd go with 8616 for $4 cheaper.

Functionality
Reliability
Configurability
The 8616 has much less functionality, information, usability, and configurability than the 8816.
Under perfect conditions it may perform similarly and be as reliable. |
