Check out this on-line strategy game - a massive-multiplayer on-line social networking game called eRepublik. It involves war (a lot of it), economics, politics, fanstasy role playing, strategy and much, much more. (and its free) There are English and Spanish versions currently.
For free money (this is only fake in-game money not real money) when you reach level six (which is relatively quick), I suggest you sign up at this page (as a Canadian or American only):
eRepublik
If you just want to stroll around and take the tour, etc., then you can go to the main page:
Let me know what you think (in-game) after you sign up. And if you do sign up, let me know in-game with a personal message to 'Citizen B'. |

| reply to wapu I get five 'gold' for signing up 10 members that reach level six. I am going to give that out to the first ten - that sign up as Canadian or American. I don't really need it. 0.5 gold each. Its not a lot, but if you do stay in the game, you will see that it is desirable. So, you will get your commission. |

| As for managing an economy, that is not really what the game is about. At its lowest level, you manage a citizen that communicates (social networking) with other citizens around the world. The citizen of course works and spends money. So yes, you manage your money. (There is not much to this really.) The citizen can own businesses, which then brings a lot more monetary involvement. The citizizen and businesses can also trade currencies on the monetary market to make some quick profits.
At higher levels, you could be a government official, congressmand, or cabinet member. Typically governement cabinets have ministers of industry and ministers of finance, who do in fact manage economies.
But that is only one small part of the game. |
