TWC Business Cable Resellers?

Looking for internet options for a local school. They're on 1.5 x 512 DSL right now. It appears as though the only option with better performance is TWC Business Class cable, starting at $110 per month on a two-year contract for 10 x 512. There is a promotion for 7 x 2 at $80 per month including a phone line, but the price doubles after the first year.

So my question is, is there any provider operating over TWC's coax infrastructure, that offers lower pricing on the same or lesser contract. Higher upload speed is one goal; would make offsite backup a bit more feasible than currently.

The only cable CLEC I've seen is Earthlink and I'm not sure if they are still doing so or what ILEC cable companies they operate over. In general though there is no such thing as a Cable CLEC AFAIK.

I'm curious of something though. Why still 512 up? 1.5/512 to 10/512 doesn't seem like that great of a jump up. Sure if you only need download speeds and upload is not a concern it's alright but still 512 up seems kinda paltry. Personally I think 7x2 plus a phone line at $160 a month (the doubled price you mentioned) seems better than 10/512 with no phone line for $110 a month.

Earthlink is residential-only and is limited to TWC. They're not so much a CLEC as an ISP over TWC's network, in addition to RoadRunner, started as a condition of the AOL-TW merger.

I've seen an offer or two here reselling TWC business class at a lower rate.

As far as other resellers go, I know there's Megapath, but their rates are higher than Time Warner's directly.

As to the speed tiers, I didn't make 'em. That's all I can say there.

Megapath I thought did copper service only (DSL, T1, etc), not any coax based service. All the others are related to TWC in some way which explains why they can "resell" the service. I suppose it's possible cable companies could open up their network but I know most seemed to be against it when the issue got brought up many years ago. I'm almost positive Comcast and Cox don't do it. What you may find are companies selling TWC/comcast/Cox service but you will still be billed directly from the respective cable company. I'm not really sure what to call those companies because they seemed to give the same rates and promotions as Comcast did (at least in my case when I was obtaining new service at my home in Tucson).

I've actually asked MegaPath and they do sell coax-based service here (undoubtedly resold from TWC) however it's ridiculously expensive. If you want proof, I can get it.

There are cable "overbuilders" in some areas (WOW, RCN and Grande Communications being the big ones) who have their own coax lines, pricing, etc. However my area is not served by an overbuider, and that's not what I'm asking for anyway.

To be really specific, delmarvawifi actually had a post here last winter saying he could get resellable DSL and cable circuits on the (relatively) cheap. I confirmed with him that at the time the offer was valid for Comcast and TWC. I'm just not sure that the offer is valid now.

As for the folks who sell Comcast, Cox, etc. they're authorized agents, just like Joe T1 Broker, albeit more automated. DSLReports has an agreement with one of these entities so people can do prequal for broadband without leaving the site.

TWC, Cox, Charter, and Suddenlink are partnered with New Edge Networks. Although the pricing is HIGH.

3megs by 384k is about $340 per month and thats only with Cox, Charter, and suddenlink.

TWC is 2/384 for 269.95.

NEN bills you DIRECTLY but support is provided by TWC's National and Level3 Support Centers. The modem is supplied by TWC the router is supplied by NEN.

Brighthouse allows for resellers but you have to DIRECTLY connect to the company's POPs and you have to contact their Business Department for that, and you can ONLY offer services to Business Customers.
