I'm sure that if you're TTV is acting up and they send a field tech you'll be able to get one. Other than that... not going to happen -- I may work for, but do not necessarily represent the views and beliefs of TELUS Communications. |

| reply to tallguy11 said by tallguy11 :i do have ttv. so all i would have to do is call in a slow speed trouble ticket? and then ask the tech when he gets here? Give it a shot - the 2Wire's CPU does seem to be lacking in some circumstances. That may be your problem; may not be - but regardless, you can ask them to change you to a D-Link gateway when they are on site, and see if it helps.
If your TTV happens to use HCNA (Ethernet over coax), it saves having the HCNA device in the system as well, since it's built in to the D-Link. -- - The content of this post is my opinion, and does not reflect the opinions of my employer. - |

| I asked for one and was refused about three weeks ago. Good Luck, let us know if and how you may get the device. I went through 1 Dlink 300G modem, 2 2Wire gateways and I think the Seimens 567 is hooped. | Yes, all were plugged into a belkin Surgemaster. The Siemens has never really worked very well from the start. The D-link modem worked well for 3 to 4 years, then just went unstable. -- Alberta Lakes belong to all Albertans, not just the developers! |

@telus.net | reply to river_ratbc Is it still not possible to change the password?
Also, does anybody know if it is possible to get a 2nd IP address (and give it to one of the computers on the LAN) with that gateway? |

Is it still not possible to change the password? It will not be possible until the next version of firmware is pushed out it... Not aware of any time line right now for that. Maybe some-one else has info on it.
As for second IP. Because it is acting as a router, I am guessing it's probably not possible. Would mean it has dual wan functions. And I doubt that would be built it... Probably your next best bet would be either to use a DMZ for one machine.
Or depending on what your trying to do. IE servers or something like that you might want to call Telus and Swap it for a speed touch. And than run your own routers...

@telus.net | reply to river_ratbc Is it possible to use the DVA G3810BN strictly as a modem and to disable it's router functions? I'd prefer to connect the computers on my network to the Internet via my Linksys WRT54GL since I've got Tomato on it. |

Does anyone know how to set port forwarding on these ones?
Also, someone noted earlier they got their external HD accessible via the gateway... Can you please share how did you set that up?
Thanks |

@telus.net | reply to terriyaki i am very interested in this also. i run a linksys router with dd-wrt behind my dva-g3810BN, and it would be great if someone knew how to disable routing. |

| reply to river_ratbc Someone from telus installed this gateway/router into my Father's network. The network had a speedtouch which connected to my old Dlink 655 router. Everything worked fine. My Father upgraded to HD and they rammed this gateway into the network. I didn't care about them doing that, but they turned on the wireless on this gateway without encryption. Now I'm pissed! Consider that the installer could see the Dlink 655 router, duh, my father didn't need another wireless access!
This is a request to all the field techs out there. If you configure this gateway, make sure you turn on encryption, and give the key to the client! Better yet, ask the client if they want wireless.
As for standalone router - I do not recommend this one. It lacks functions and control features. Maybe fine for some less savvy folks. As for future updates, I rely on that like I would rely on vaporware ...NOT |

| reply to Revival Still with Revival on this one.
Is there anyway where one can just use this modem/router as strictly a modem and plug one's own router (for example my Linksys WRT54G) behind it and connect to the internet via the second router (the Linksys in my example)? |

@telus.net | the closest i could get was put on second dd-wrt router on DMZ, but i wasnt able to find any way to bridge the connection and/or disable to router function. |
