Me and my Wife, almost fell for this in tampa. The letter used the actual owners name and had pictures from the house. (I think it must have been on a real estate site) we were so hooked i was about to send a check untill, without us asking they cut the rent in half and that set off the bells. the lines they used on us was they were missionaries and were going to be away for 2 years.

(I think it must have been on a real estate site) we were so hooked i was about to send a check untill, without us asking they cut the rent in half and that set off the bells. the lines they used on us was they were missionaries and were going to be away for 2 years. they actually ran a story on Channel 28 today about this. after this one it piqued my curiosity to "browse" the site, and it's rampant. one thing I noticed is that there are apartments in a certain area, being advertised for like the 8th floor, but in that area it's only 3 stories. for this particular house, i verified with the property appraiser and found different owners.
Be careful out there, Tampa or anywhere else for that matter. these a$$holes know people are looking for a deal. Thank goodness they screwed up for you.
