| [Spam] Spam on my Comcast account dated 12-31-1969
About 2 months ago I started receiving spam in my Comcast account only that looks different from my regular spam.
I get about 2-3 emails per day which have no subject, show no sender, and always have a date of 12-31-1969. I opened up one accidentally a while ago and there was nothing there. But I closed it as quickly as I opened it up. The one I opened was not one of earlier emails dated 12-31-1969 either. At the time I opened up that email I had been receiving them for about 1 week.
My wife also has a Comcast email account and we share the same desktop and she doesn't get these email. They only come to my Comcast account only.
Is there anyway to block these emails??? I can lived with them If I have too. Thanks. |

You can try creating a spam filter in Outlook Express or Thunderbird (assuming you are using S.M.T.P./POP with Comcast) that blocks all email coming from 12-31-1969 as the date, since this is a constant (not random) and doesn't change.
I also might want to add here that if Comcast allows it, you should send email on port 465 (SSL) and receive email on port 995. (POP)

| reply to gugarci You can also set up filters thru the Comcast web site. I can't remember off the top of my head where that particular setting is, but I set up two of them awhile back. I was getting a lot spam with my email address as part of the subject line, which always seemed to make it past the built-in filters, so I added a rule to send any of those straight to the spam folder. I also set up one to delete anything that comes from a certain person I never want to hear from again. |

In my humble opinion, it is better to use email clients off ISP's or email services like gmail because their are more options when it comes to spam filters and or blacklisting --

However all these emails always go directly to my junk folder already. I'm just getting tired of seeing them every day and wish I could just block them all. |

Which is white-Listing which I do also. I block one hundred percent of all email and only allow the legitimate emails to pass through by adding their addresses to a list.
My white-list has over twenty five thousand listings so you could imagine the sheer volume of spam and legitimate email that I receive on a daily basis.
If you know you are going to get spam, prepare for it and deal with it , so that you don't have spend a lot of time deleteing it.
