Also - why do people always ask for the NPA NXX - what if is it is a CLEC number - why can't everyone just Google it then look for nearby business with the RBOC or LEC NPA NXX? |

I know because I used to do it. directory searches for nearby businesses can get you CLEC or cell numbers, or (worse) ported numbers! I still ask for NPA NXX, but I don't trust what a customer will tell me. professional telecom agents have access to online resources that will allow us to punch in an address and the system tells us a NPA NXX in the proper Bell serving wire center. |

| reply to vapb400 I'm in at $2534/month for full 45M DS3, 3 year term, $850 install, your DS-3 router (rental is available). Same DS3 as everybody else, your address is simply in a sweet spot for one of my carriers. Other times they'll beat me up, too! To discuss, register for the forum (it's free, you'll get no SPAM, and the ads go away), then click my name in blue to the left, then fill in your contact info in the yellow box and press submit. |

Using telcodata clarifies whether it is a CLEC number or not + shows the rate center. My strategy works just fine - especially if one doesn't have fancy tools like professional telecom agents. I guess I am an unprofessional
Also - you are agreeing with me because you "don't trust what the customer will tell me". I just think it is silly that every time someone requests a quote here without an NPA NXX - which was what my post was about - so called professional telecom agents responding to the request always ask for an NPA NXX.
Why can't we all just get along?
Cheers |

(Well, maybe not so much the guys that cut and paste the same response message to every thread that doesn't include any helpful information.) For the end users who need optimal priced circuits, this forum works out pretty well. The peddlers beat each other up a little bit, and the customer is the winner. What's wrong with that? |

Actually I might cut and paste it for those people - apparently they don't have time to run a quote - the can hardly be expected to have the time to cut and paste either

There are also weird locations where putting in an address across the street could put you in another CO. Yeah, in a city it's probably all zero-mile so the price is correct, but accuracy is a good thing.
A building I sometimes work in is served by two different COs. Quite amusing.
Long ago a company I worked for had a customer that needed a T1 from one building to another across the street in Brooklyn. The damn T1 had to go from one CO to another. We sold them wireless hardware instead. -- with every mistake we must surely be learning |
