I signed up voipstunt and paid it $10EU to use its services. It worked for a month, now, everytime I call, it was busy. I sent emails and got no answer. What is going on with them.
I noticed the same company operates VOIPSTUNT started a new site called smartvoip.com. I don't understand, if VOIPstunt can not even handle well its own business, why they start another similar services?
Just collect $10EU and let people using it for one month? Be aware this comapny |

VoIPstunt is a service from the German provider Betamax. This provider is running 31 services under different names and with slightly different prices. Currently the following services are run by Betamax:
Many of these services offer free calls to 20+ countries for 90 days if you pay 10 Euro. The free calls are often limited to 300 minutes per week for each unique IP address.
The different services from Betamax often work very well, the sound quality is mostly acceptable.
Betamax has no customer support at all so don't bother sending them email, you will never get a reply.
All services from Betamax are discount services so do not expect it to work all the time. When it works you can call "free" to many destinations with acceptable quality, when it does not work you need to use another provider. |

| reply to joyful As you see, Betamax runs under at least 30 brand names.
When a company does that, they have not much reason to provide good service.
If a particular brand name gets a bad reputation, it really doesn't matter, because they have so many other names and make new ones all the time.
I cannot think of ANY other major player in Voip that uses so many brand names, other than VT with its various resellers.
Good companies like CallCentric, F9, PhonePower, VOIPo, and others, rise or fall on their OWN name.

| Betamax has no need for providing a good service because they have more than enough customers. People love the free PSTN calls and the low rates to cell phones in Europe.
You only need to pay 10 EURO (13.92 USD) once every 90 days and for that you get 300 free minutes every week. If you use all the free minutes your rate per minute is around 0.36 cent. If you use more than 300 minutes a week the rate on exceeding minutes are extremely low.
You are also able to set your own Caller ID with most of the Betamax services. There is no charge for Caller ID.
Besides free or cheap PSTN calls you also get texting to very low prices.
A lot of people think free calls or calls to very low prices are more important than good customer service.
For some people low prices are so important they can move to another provider just to save a quarter of a cent per minute.
Betamax does not spend a cent on support or customer service but their customers are still happy. It is a strange world we live in. |

| reply to joyful I've used voipstunt for over 4 years now, and while I've had some hiccups, nothing major. I have it configured on my asterisk server now and use it to call Japan. For me it was working a couple of days ago. (don't check everyday)
When I've emailed support, I received an answer the next day.
I'm sorry you are having these problems. How are you connecting to it? Asterisk, pap2, etc... |

1 edit | reply to Arne Bolen Some offer 120 days like voipbuster.com »backsla.sh/betamax does a good job comparing the price per minute on many of them.
I have been using phone service through them for about 5 years. Occasional hiccups. Max free days is 360 that I had I am now down to 90. My family is used to me now calling with no caller id. So my only fee has been a $4 charge from vitelity every month for their unlimited incoming number. Otherwise if I want caller Id I have made a route to choose vitelity by adding an extra number in when dialing.
meister_sd - just read your post after I posted. Or maybe I saw it from the corner of my eye. Odd. Didnt mean to copy you.

| reply to Arne Bolen Caller ID only works properly when I use the VOIp client (for while I have confirmed my number) It doesn't work with asterisk.
Is this the same for everyone else?
Thanks

001NPANXXXXXX
In Linksys the number must be entered in the "User ID" field, I don't know where it should be entered in Asterisk. |

| That is good to know! I have been using Asterisk and Free PBX with Vitelity and Voicepulse.com it takes the caller it from what I specify in the caller id field of the extension. There is a place to override it in the extensions area, I tried it in both with 001 format and it did not work. Still shows as unavailable. I am using the same number I verified in the program. -- KieranMullen »360oregon.com

When using a Voxalot account the number must be entered in the "From User" field. |

You get 120 freedays with 10 euro credit. So you then make 3 10 euro purchases for a total of 360 days. -- KieranMullen »360oregon.com
