[iPhone] 3.1 Beta for 3G & 3GS

Looks like Apple also believes there is a battery problem.

Although there is no official change log yet (as this is a first beta) we have installed the update on a 3G and 3GS here in the Neowin office and it's noticeably faster moving around the OS. We are still tinkering around trying to find further changes but rumour has it this update is getting pumped out to address some battery issues that users have been complaining about over at the Apple iPhone discussion forums. Early indications show that the tethering hack we detailed earlier this month does work correctly. We will update the list below with our findings.

I've read about people experiencing battery life issues with their 3GS - I haven't. My battery life is pretty good. I can go 8-9 hours with 3G on, and my e-mail being checked every 15 minutes, and at the end of the 9 the hours have about 25% left.

Shouldn't the phone last for days in standby? My 2G has 80%+ left under those circumstances, I'd be pissed if my battery was almost gone after a work day of not being used.

Oh my phone isn't on standby. I'm constantly e-mailing and sending SMS, surfing the web, IMing, etc.

Neowin is the last place I'd trust as a reliable source of anything. Their "office" is someones home.

My office is my home (quite often). What's your point?

They try to be a reputable news source or claim to be one however they are in fact not. When you're reading news and they say we have something in our labs or in office you would tend to not think it means your bedroom.

Some of my best work is done in the bedroom.
I call my spare bedroom with the desk, PC etc my office. Hell I call my cubicle here in RI my office also. It's what the end result is, not where it is being done.

i think the point is that when a website purports to have "an office", which turns out to be the guy's bedroom, that website may not have as much credibility as a similar website with what is generally considered a "real" office. Particularly if the website run out of the bedroom takes steps to cover the fact that "The office" is really "the bedroom" or "parents basement"..

OK, how about "Tech Fragments"
»techfragments.com/news/931/Softw···sed.html

and

"Apple Insider"

can it be a ploy by Neowin to decive us all . . .

I never said there was no 3.1 Beta. I'm running it my self I have an iPhone Developer account. I was saying I just don't trust neowin as a news source. More so pointing to the bolded part saying rumor has it this update is getting pumped out to address some battery issues.

I was taking a stab at their method of reporting. Where did their rumors come from the office down the hall aka their bathroom?
