| OpenDNS Question
I'll be checking out the OpenDNS forums this evening when I'm home, but I figured I'd ask here too first, since I know we have many experienced OpenDNS users here.
I manage two networks in my profile with OpenDNS. I have been using it for 6+ months. It has been working well. Today, I stopped by the physical location of one of my networks running OpenDNS (my parents), and I noticed that one of my personal websites is blocked by OpenDNS, stating "pornography".
I looked at my settings within OpenDNS, and I'm opn the "low" setting, blocking only phishing-related websites. I whitelisted my domain and the related subdomains, waited about 10 mins, and my sites were still not accessable.
So, I have two questions: 1) How come it's being classified as "pornography"? (FWIW, I am on a shared hosting plan--is that part of it?)
2) How come OpenDNS blocked it even though I "allow" pornography within my settings, and how come it's still blocked after I whitelisted them? -- "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." - George Carlin

| As far as 2 goes check and make sure the ips match what opendns thinks you have. I don't have the software to automatically update opendns installed on my system so I have to manually update the ip. Haven't done it in some time. The defaults seem to work for me anyway. |

I forgot about that! I'll have to check tomorrow - I forget if I even run the software there or if I do it manually. We did have a significant power outage there, so I guess it's possible it picked up a new IP. -- "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." - George Carlin
