Is monoprice a good place to buy hdmi cables from? I like the prices, but how is the quality of the cables? |

| reply to me1212 I've probably bought 30 HDMI cables from them along with various other pieces and parts. Everything is top notch quality. I broke one of the HDMI cables (my stupidity broke it, it didn't just fail) and they sent out a new one same day no questions asked. They told me just to toss the bad one in the trash.
They are a great company to deal with! |

| reply to me1212 Monoprice is, hands down, one of the best companies around. They charge about $7 for shipping and send out orders Priority Mail for that price. Most places send it out Pony Express (I mean, UPS ground) for that price.
Their items are of very good quality but to be honest, an HDMI cable is an HDMI cable. All that gold plated this and gold plated that is just marketing.
What threw you for a loop... the fact that local stores charge $30 for an HDMI cable that should only cost $5?
My advice... order a few different things to keep in hand. Shipping cost vs the price of the items makes this worth it. I have about 3 orange HDMI cables in my cable bin. |

| reply to me1212 I agree that at those prices, stock up. I found a place a few years ago (now gone) that sold USB cables at $1 for 6', $2 for 10' and $3 for 15' lengths, any kind of USB cable, all 2.0. I got about 1/3 regular cables and 2/3 extension cables. 18 cables for about $36, and I still have some in stock. They are incredibly handy since many new items don't include cables and I'm not about to pay $20 in the store. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

Almost everything I buy (that has a USB port) comes with a cable. I must have 10+ short USB cables in the box under the desk, still in bags/twist tied. -- New to Forum Life? Click here and learn. |

| It seems to be mainly printers/scanners/etc. that use the standard A/B cable. The extension cables really come in handy too when your computer is in a desk and reaching the back ports is daunting. Hook up some extension cables, lay the around front and you're set. I also use a 3' one on the front of my computer so it's much easier to connect my flash drives. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

| reply to Sweet Witch Correct. I'm convinced most places make more money off the cables and accessories you have to buy then the margin on the printer. A classic example is the $100 printer that needs $40 worth of ink. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

| I recently had to get a new inkjet. Thankfully I found a Canon MF480 at Staples on clearance for $29, but the ink packs are $49 each (one of each). Thankfully they last pretty well (I do all monochorome printing on a laser). My initial decision was to buy new or get new tanks for my old Lexmark - at $35 each! The Canon can also copy so I'm glad I went with this. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

That is another think I forgot to mention. I've ordered at 9am and had them ship the items that same day! Happens all of the time. |

| Yeah, this is just letter. I use my scanner for scanning I just couldn't find 'just an inkjet' anywhere since everything available now is a multi. At least it's smaller than the flying saucer HP at the office! -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."
