| New Olympic network being launched
With Comcast as the cable partner. Says the network will be carried on Comcast systems on digital classic. So, is this going to compete with Universal Sports, or what?

| reply to ak3883 Why is it that these sports organizations (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, Olympics) have to effectively tax all cable users to support them? You thought Digital Classic was expensive now!!
Comcast seriously needs to create something between Starter and Classic. The difference is getting too big. |

| reply to koshoka the Family plan is Digital Economy, it is between limited basic and Standard Cable, but in a migrated area standard Cable=digital Starter because they do not offer it to new customers anymore, so this is actually worse than digital starter, then in most areas they merged digital preferred down into digital classic, kept the digital classic name but give it the Digital preferred price, so there is nothing in the middle anymore, and there's nothing you can do about either!!!! |

| reply to koshoka Digital Lite
My parents have what the bill lists as "Digital Lite",it's what Digital Classic used to be before they renamed Digital Preferred Digital classic.Digital lite has most of the digital classic channels minus the major sports channels(NFL,MLB,NBA,NHL and Big ten)and maybe 12 or so other channels like BBC America,Logo,Sundance,Retro&Indieplex and a bunch of the Discovery like channels(Military,Biography,History International,Ect.)
The best part is they pay $3/month more than Digital Starter and $12/month less than Digital Classic but they got Grandfathered in because they had it before the changes and it's not available for new subscriptions.Comcast keeps calling and offering them another box and an upgrade to Digital Classic and HBO free for a year, but my Dads not going for it. |

comcast Chicago area needs to move sci-if / syfy and speed to starter as other comcast areas have them in starter / analog some even in clear qam.
and redo the channel number they are a big mess in the 100-200 range. |

| reply to CRP said by CRP :Is there a market for this kind of stuff? It would be in competition with NBC's multicast channel Universal Sports. It's a niche, but if it shows curling once a week, I'll watch. Acquiring broadcast rights may be a problem with NBC's channel around, but if NBC doesn't win the next Olympic rights, the market may be more open (that's a few years down the line). |
