| "Upgrade" to RoadRunner Turbo.
Today I upgraded and was told when I got home I would have the Turbo plan. However, my internet seems about the same but a little slower then before. Has anyone else suffered from this same problem? I'm going to make another trip over soon to work this out. -- Generally I'm actively stoned, about stoned, or got the after stone burn, Mods be nice and guide me I try to stay clean here. |

| reply to Madcap I just downgraded and the connection went dead for a few moments. When it came back up, it was at the lower speed.
I didn't have to reset the modem for the change to take effect.
So, far, I'm having a similar experience. The connection is slower, but the throughput actually seems to be slightly faster on the slower service.
This seems odd since the RR infrastructure should be the same.
My theory is that the infrastructure determines the throughput you actually get. The faster connection speed won't give you better throughput if the infrastructure doesn't support it.
In my mind, this means that you should use the test tools to figure out how much throughput you can actually get and then select a connection speed appropriate to that throughput. Anything faster, and your throwing your money away.
I'm guessing that the improved throughput I'm getting is a random occurrence and isn't related to the connection speed at all. |
