| Motorola 2210 drops connection, but caches site to itself
I was finally coerced into upgrading my beloved Alcatel modem to a "new" improved Motorla 2210 about 6 weeks ago to maintain the DSL 6.0 speeds. Speed did get better, but drops every 10-15 minutes. DSL light stays green, but Internet light goes red.
When I attempt to go to a web page at the moment the connection drops, the page somehow is getting redirected to the 192.168.1.254 modem address and won't let it go once the connection/modem gets restarted.
Sounds minor, but when I have several windows open, including Google, and email server,... these sites will begin going to 192.168.1.254.... Tried restarting modem.... rebooting modem... clearing browser cache... all to no avail. There doesn't seem to be a cache setting or viewing on Motorola.
AT&T tech support reset the port and voila, all the sites were now accessible again. Line techs "ran" testing on line and "all was good", but the issue still occurs. Their solution was for me to call whenever this happened to have them reset the port.
Ok... they will get tired of hearing me call them multiple times per day, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I would be interested in hearing them.
In the meantime, the line dropping issue remains, and I will continue to bug them about that. So far, I have had 3 techs out in the last 3 weeks, but being able to get to pages when connection is ON is vital. |

| I suspect a line issue as well. My telephone connection is staticy as well. I don't think the Zoom is available in My AT&T area ...
How long did it take for your tech folks to resolve the issue and what did you do/say to get them to do more than simple line testing? |

| you must call the phone company and get the phone line fixed 1st. until there in no more staticy noise on the line.
and as for the zoom modem you can buy one online at microcenter.com or from zoom.com they will lie to you to get you to buy their crappy modems.
go with getting the line quality 1st the see if your modem works then if you still have trouble post back |

| line issue resolved... crappy modem still crappy, but replacement they provided not much better (2wire)
still issue seemed to stem from the dslam PORT itself. new cards in port at box would not even sync up, so tech simply put me onto another card in box and all is working much better...
now to look for a better modem |
