| Wireless Connection Limited Or No Connectivity?
Hello. A friend of mine is running Windows XP on his desktop. I installed a wireless adapter for him, and as I go to connect to his FiOS Actiontec router, enter the WEP key, it'll connect, however, he will get the Limited or No Connectivity error.
I believe it may be a problem with the computer, but I'm not 100% sure. He Nintendo DS Lite connects to the router fine and gets internet connectivity. We tried factory resetting the router, but to no avail.

1 edit | said by blackDog : he will get the Limited or No Connectivity error. Limited or No Connectivity usually refers to the discourse between the computer and the router. I'd go into Control Panel > Network Connections and create a new connector for the wireless connection. |

Thanks.

1 edit | reply to blackDog You may also try on the PC side. If the motherboard has a second LAN port, plug the CAT6 into that one & see if it connects.
Or if it only has the 1 port, then try to repair and/or disable, enable.
That happens to me every few months and after I change the network setting in Vista, it fixes the glitch.
-----EDIT-----
Sorry now I see you are talking about wireless. Just to confirm though, you may want to test with ethernet cable to make sure that PC gets a full wired connection.
With the wireless, check the card settings on the PC side & make sure you have the latest drivers for that model. Also, how far is the PC from the router? |

| reply to blackDog Limited connectivity typically means the connection is being seen by the PC but the PC can not authenticate to the router.
The wep key on the router is probably correct (unless someone logged into the router and changed the essid) but is in UPPER CASE so naturally, that's how people attempt to connect it.
BUT, on the inside of the router, the wep key is most likely in lower case.
So, try putting in the wep key in lower case on the pc. Also, sometimes people mistake o for 0. There are NO o's in the wep key. Only zeroes....
Let us know. |
