| [Servers] Gigabit has really improved my NAS performance!
Thanks to all who helped with suggestions while I was upgrading my LAN to gigabit.
It is very noticeable when running backups, or otherwise accessing my NAS servers. The speed I can access them at is almost as if they were local hard drives. I thought things were good with fast ethernet, but gigabit really has improved my ability to access these devices. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

i bought a Dlink DNS-323 while it was on sale, and to be honest i'm thinking i should have just spent a little extra and built my own. |

| One is a Linkstation Live, the other a Linkstation Pro. Both are gigabit capable. A large download which I do regularly used to take about 20 minutes now completes in about 5.
I upgraded the switch, plus my PC NICs. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

The 100mbps vs 1000mbps benchmarks here seem to show the same kind of thing:
