Re: [northwest] VZ Fiber outtage WA and OR

I live in Aloha, OR just east of Hillsboro. Both our phone and Internet went out yesterday afternoon around 2 PM. I called VZ (Ohio) with my cell phone and they instructed me to reboot the ONT by removing the battery. After that it came back on for a few minutes then back off again. Another call to VZ (WV this time) and they said they couldn't do anything more so they scheduled a service appointment today. Well it came back on last night minutes after the last call. Today the techs showed up around 1:30 and everything was still working so I chatted with them about the Frontier change and they said that the only change would be shirts and trucks. They looked at the ONT and everything was working so nothing to fix. Then around 6:30 both phone and internet went down again for a while (maybe a half hour) and now all is working again. Funny thing is that the TV never went down. The techs said all of this was due to a fire at Bothell, WA where there is a major connection to the internet for the whole NW. Their building wasn't on fire but a nearby building was and the FD sprayed down all of VZ's equipment which caused the outage. They said they have been going to customers houses like mine all day. VZ HQ-East was apparently in the dark over the whole thing so they scheduled service calls all over the place.

Checking the connectivity monitors, I didn't experience any issues here in Hillsboro.
