| UFO? While out in the country last weekend the SO and I sat out by the river and looked at the stars. This was in central Texas. Light pollution was minimal, and the sky was clear.
While we were there - maybe in the 11pm or midnight hour - something that looked like a star moved right across the sky. It was about the size and brightness of a medium star. It moved and shone steadily, not arcing or tracing like a meterorite or "shooting star". It was very clear and unmistakable, though we could not discern any detail.
Speed-wise, it went all the way across the sky, treetops to treetops, in about two minutes. That's a huge distance if it was high, so it must have been very fast if it was very distant. We thought it must be distant because there was no sound at all.
We saw a plane too and it was different: flashing lights, red and white, and slower and made a distant drone.
Another one of the mystery lights moved across the sky a few minutes after the first one, in a somewhat different direction. In other respects it was just like the first.
We went out again the next night at about the same time, but there were only the stars and a plane and no star-looking lights moving.
Any ideas of what this was?

Space Shuttle or ISS might explain the appearance and speed, but there were two of them. Also, I'm not sure the dates coincide - this was the last weekend in June.
I guess satellites could explain it, assuming they look like that. I've never seen this before though.
No abductions or other bizarre occurrences on the ground, thank goodness!

| Re: UFO? A pinpoint of light, be it a source, or reflected, moving at a constant rate, and not deviating from an apparent straight line, while moving from horizon to horizon, is, most likely, some kind of satellite.
However, given the technical definition of the term, "UFO", it definitely was a UFO that you saw. Unless you can match the time of the event to the expected courses of the various objects in orbit around this Earth.
As long as you remember: "UFO" != "flying saucer", or "alien spacecraft". Since either determination is an, "identification" of the object, and automatically removes the adjective "unidentified" from effect. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

Unless you can match the time of the event to the expected courses of the various objects in orbit around this Earth. Flying (the "F" in UFO) indicates operating within the atmosphere. A satellite is governed by "Orbital Mechanics" outside of the atmosphere. So if what the OP saw was a satellite, it could not be a uFo.... should we refer to it as a USO (Unidentified Satellite Object)? -- "The world is a book; those who do not travel read but a single page." -St. Augustine
