[Wireless] 2 linksys routers, one gets internet, another to boos

Here's my issue....I've got a Linksys wireless pci adaptor with MIMO that I get the internet from my parents. But the signal isn't strong enough to pickup thoughout the whole house. I'm extremely confused as to what I need to go. I've get the internet fine on my desktop, which is where the wireless pci adaptor is connected. I've got my Linksys wrt54g connected to my desktop via ethernet cable. Now how do I get my internet connection from the adaptor through the computer and out my wireless router to boost the signal in my apartment? Thanks in advance!

well lets start out clarifying a couple things

1) MIMO technology is for N based wireless. It combines signal from 3 antenna to build a single stronger signal image.

2) your WRT54G is an 802.11G device - it does not support N or include MIMO technology

I assume your Linksys wrt54G is connected to your ISP (cable or DSL) and then hard wired to your desktop and acting as a wireless AP broadcasting wireless?

You have a couple options. A third party firmware like dd-wrt will allow you to increase your signal levels. Increasing power also increases noise so that is not always the best solution. You could get better antennas for the 54G - Radio shack sells these for around 10$. You also may want to try other channels on the WRT54G as there may be issues with nearby wireless interference. Finally, try raising the router to a higher shelf and insure no metal obstructions.

Another typical option is to use another WRT54G as a wireless repeater. This acts like the more expensive range extenders but also allows you to plug wired devices into the extender.

Unless your apartment is very large - I would look into the first two options first.
