Re: Clutch Pedal Has No Pressure?

Read the top on the reservoir and it should say use DOT 3 Brake Fluid. Carefully (don't spill on paint a BF ruins paint) refill the reservoir to the full line and try the Clutch. It will likely have to be bled to remove any air from the system that was pumped into the line to the slave cylinder.

Once it is working, check it for leaks. The Clutch Master cylinder, the Clutch Slave cylinder and the pressure hose between the two can all develop leaks.

You may or may not have a clutch issue, but before you can tell the hydraulics must work properly first and have no leaks.

Hello I am posting this for a friend of mine.

He has a 1992 Honda Civic DX 5sp that is now giving him a bit of trouble.

When he first bought this car the clutch pedal had pressure when you pushed down on it.

Now after having it for lets say 3 or 4 months now the clutch pedal takes little to no force to be pushed down to the floor.

The pedal does come back up on its own after you let go so I think the cable is fine (if this model even uses one).

I checked all the reservoirs under the hood and the smallest little one is almost bone dry except for the little bit on the bottom.

A lot of other online forums that I was browsing suggest replacing the clutch system, another one suggests replacing the master and slave cylinders and one suggested to bleed the system with fresh fluid.

I am a bit torn on this though, obviously I would like to get the cheapest solution but I don't know at this point.

As usual all help is greatly appreciated.
