[DSL] Those flashing red lights

( Do not use this if the power light is Flashing that is a firmware or powering problem)

You have either a bad modem, installed an older or a bad phone, or have a popped a filter on one of your phones due to a power spike. Try this: Disconnect all the phone lines and filter by pulling all the ice cubes out of there sockets, if you have a phone plugged into the modem filter pull it also.,but keep the modem plugged in, and see if this clears the problem. If it does not try replacing the filter on the modem. If that is not the problem check around your connectors to see if any loose wires are touching the phone connectors, if that is clears it good, but if not, try getting a new modem. If it goes beyond that call your I.S.P and or phone co

Re: [DSL] Those flashing red lights

If you mean the ADSL LED Flashing Red, that depends on exactly what Brand/Model ADSL Modem is in use as some don't have Red as an option for the ADSL LED. Solid Red though on the Power LED is usually a POST failure indication.

When in doubt of the ADSL signal reaching the ADSL Modem or not, going straight to the NID with the Modem and plugging it into the Test Jack is the quickest diagnostic test to perform. That will determine if the ADSL signal is down/not reaching the residence at all or if the inside wiring is interfering with the ADSL Signal.
