Regardless of the card, as long as the Router or A/P is either pushing a mixed signal of B/G, if a N router, then it can also push a B/G/N signal. If the SSID has been turned off to attempt to mask the router, then manually plug in the info in the set up for the card.
My guess is that either the internal card on the laptop is interfering with the add on, or if you used the set up software for the add-on card, that could have caused problems also. -- I threw out the map a long time ago. Now I follow my own direction! |

| I am looking for a wifi card to put into my desktop. I tried using a Linksys Compact Wireless - G USB adapter, but it only picked up one wireless connection and it wasn't the one that I needed to connect to. I even tried setting the connection up manually, but that didn't work either.
My girlfriend's laptop (the computer that I'm currently on) has a internal wifi card and is able to pick up the connection that the adapter I tried to use was unable to pick up.
I'm guessing that this adapter isn't the kind of wireless product that I need and what I do need is an actual Wifi card similar to what's used in a laptop.
Any ideas for that type of card? -- "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep." ~By Robert Frost~ |
