[modem/router] MTU issues with Actiontec GT704WG

chupathingy : Hi,
I recently purchased an HP HDX laptop, and ever since i brought it home, it has had difficulty getting out to the internet wirelessly on my home network only. I frequently take it over to friend's houses, and it works perfectly there. It also works perfectly when i connect it via ethernet cable to the modem/router. The only way i am able to get a consistent wireless internet connection is to set the MTU all the way down to 222 bytes, which is absurd. Due to this, my upload speeds are extremely limited. I've tried troubleshooting my router, updating firmware etc..
Another puzzling development is that my brother also has an hp laptop (both of us are running Vista home premium 64-bit) and his internet works perfectly fine. I can only assume that this is an issue of compatibility between my wireless card and the modem/router.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
