..this is what I was talking about in the other thread..
While I'm happy for you (and others getting this "bonus"), I'm pissed that those of us on 50/20 are currently being "forgotten"/treated basically like shit.
We pay more than double you guys, get less on the downstream, and get far less on the upload.. typically 49-50/20-21.
It's bs. |

| It's the same for 20/20 people. They are (most likely) paying more than the 25/15 plan, yet are getting 20/20 versus 25/25. Granted, it's a smaller difference in throughput, but it's the same situation.
It's a calculated risk to jump ship from the 50/20 to 35/20 plan, if upstream is your goal. Personally, given the large difference in speeds and the unknown for how long this "fluff" is going to last, I'd stay put with 50/20 and see what happens in August. 20/20 to 25/15 isn't a big difference (although I would definitely prefer 20/20), so I took the risk - and the fact that it was cheaper helped. -- He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have. -Socrates |

| reply to dumbfound I believe that Verizon is phasing out the 25/15. I ordered the FiOS triple play package /w 25/15 Internet last week, installation is scheduled on tomorrow, just got a call from Verizon confirming what I ordered, I was told that my Internet would be 25/25, not the 25/15 I ordered. |

@verizon.net | reply to dumbfound I just found out about the increase from 20/5 to 25/15, is this upgrade free if I call? I have triple play but they are closed at them moment. |

| No, it's not "free"; you have to renew with a bundle, and most of the time the new bundle cost is more than what most people are currently paying; however, those that have upgraded felt it was worth it for the higher speeds (most folks are reporting 25/25 from their 25/15 tier). |

The only reason I downgraded from 50/20 to 35/20 is because Verizon offered a double play package with Unlimited Local and Long Distance calling + Caller ID and Voicemail for $30 cheaper than what I was paying for 50/20 + Basic local service.
Considering I can barely saturate my 50mb download, it makes financial sense.
That said, I'd love them to upgrade the 35/20 tier officially to 50/35 or maybe even 50/50 with the new highest tier being something like 75/35.
That'd be nice. -- --Natoma |

| That's ridiculous, so unlike comcast who just automatically upgrades their customers for free every time they increase speeds verizon gives a new speed tier and gets rid of yours so you stay locked at the speed for all eternity unless you agree to pay more money a month. |

Last year at this time, speed upgrades from Verizon were free.
Last fall, most customers who re-bundled to include the new HD channels (Extreme Package) actually SAVED money.
Perhaps you need to get your facts straight next time. And of course, no one is stopping you from switching to Comcast where you might be able to pay less for what can be an inferior product/service. |

Verizon never does automatic updates to new speeds. You just stay where you're at till they find something to entice you with, so you'll call them and upgrade. |

@rr.com | reply to dumbfound I noticed that Nesis is in Astoria. Where in Astoria has FiOS already? Also, I was told the NYC symetrical service was only 20/20. I'm 0n 33 street at 21 ave. We have Time Warner. I can't wait for FiOS. Fater is better obviously... |

Also, I was told the NYC symetrical service was only 20/20. That is correct. The only advertised symmetrical tier is 20/20.
If you sign up for the 25/15 tier you most likely will see 25/25 on the speedtests. In NY, the 35/20 tier is also available (and some folks with that tier are reporting closer to 35/35 speeds IIRC). |
