I will only be here until July 5th I don't think that will be enough time? I just wonder if it will never happen because I really only come once a year.. |

| reply to Subaru just as I expected she came in to eat went around then I heard her ruffle the bags behind me and I turn around and she is looking at me (was sitting on a couch with my back to her) and she put her two paws on it and I let her smell my hand and did not nip but she got back on the floor and just walked off.
She's not vocal to me yet and I don't think she was the last time I was here. |

| reply to Subaru Here's the thing, cats really don't have much of a bite. Their jaws just don't have the overall strength that dogs or even humans possess. Their strength is in their claws. If he wanted to hurt you or ward you off, he would have scratched you.
Cats use their teeth just like you would use your hands to hold something firm. like if I would grab your arm and hold onto you.
I have a massive Mainecoon Cat that bites occasionally, either to solicit play, or just plain "love bites", or to say; "Hands off I'm napping and don't want to be disturbed", or; "Don't touch me there". This cat has never used his open claws when pawing either, even in play.
Cats pick individuals in a house to make friends with. Sounds like your Aunts cat has chosen you as a friend. -- 0111000001100101011000010110001101100101 |

| reply to Subaru Yep, like others said here, it was playing with you. My cat will play rough. She'll use her claws, bite a little. But she knows not to go too far.
Get a laser pointer, and point it on the floor. That cat will go nuts trying to catch it. Like humans, just don't point it in their eyes. -- Photoshop these nuts in your mouth.

We have one that will sit on your lap and beg to be rubbed, but then the switch gets flipped and she starts biting, not hard mind you, but she does. But she is playing the whole time. |

| reply to Subaru The behavior is normal.
My kitty is very friendly and runs to everyone who comes in the door. He will sit on guests and playfully claw and bite them. Of course, not all people think this is cute so sometimes I have to shoo him away.
I think it's their way of "hunting". Remember that even "sweet innocent" house cats are genetically programmed to be vicious, bloodthirsty predators. Anyone who has ever seen the National Geographic specials where cheetahs chase down gazelles and tear them to shreds can confirm this.
I've seen what my own cute little kitten will do when he corners a mouse. The cat is not declawed and it wasn't pretty.

| said by Subaru :She loves staying near my car she came near this morning to visit but was more ready to head outdoors I would advise you to keep her away from your car. Sometimes they'll crawl up into the engine compartment because of it being warm. And if you turn on the engine while she's there....man, that ain't gonna be pretty. -- Photoshop these nuts in your mouth.

| reply to Subaru LOL! My cat is definately plotting to kill me! HAHA!
She is a Maincoon. I adopted her when she was a few months old and was a feral cat. She would not let anyone get close to her when I went to adopt her. We trapped her in a small garden cage thing. She started to go nuts and was about to squeeze through one of the openings. Of course, me being the macho man I am, I decided I would just grab her up, bare handed. I figured what would a little kitty do to me! BIG MISTAKE! She ripped my hand open and bit me up pretty good. My hand was literally dripping blood. I still held on to her and put her into a big box for the ride home. She was one of several at my then GFs grandparents. They were becoming a nuisance would have ended up being put down. My GF at the time really wanted this cat. When I dumped her ass, I damn sure wasnt giving up my cats! HAHA!
Over time, I trained her to be friendly with me and others. She is still shy at 3 years old but not bad at all. Since I brought her home she has only bit and scratched me twice. Once was about two months after bringing her home. She wanted to run free in the house and made a dash for the rafters in the basement. I caught her just before she made it and she again gave me the psycho bite and scratch move. I snatched her up and put the fear of god into her. I didnt beat her anything like that. Just got a little rough and yelled at her. Since that night, she has never bit me or scratched me. I cant even get her to bite or scratch me when playing. It is nice to tell my guests that I know 100% she will not harm them. Honestly, she has become the best cat ever. When I want her to do something, she does it. When I want her out of a room. I tell her and she leaves. When I want her off the table, I tell her and she gets down. She will not even touch people food unless it is directly given to her.
She did scratch me one time about 2 months ago. It was my fault though. My buddy brought his Corgi over and I went to pet my cat with the Corgi nearby. This spooked her and I took the defensive attack for the dog. LOL!
I did take in two but one of them died at about a year old. No idea why, just found him dead. |

| another question What are some signs that a cat wants to be picked up? I mean I was a little shocked the cat came behind me last night I don't know if it was trying to be sneaky or was trying to smell what was in the bag and ruffled it so I heard it and turned it and the cat had a "uh-oh" look then proceeded to put her two paws up on the seat and smell and jumped back and and was ready to head out. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!

onebadmofo Repost These Nuts In Your Mouth. Premium join:2002-03-30 Reading, PA | reply to Subaru If I'm on the laptop my cat feels the need to let me know she's there. So she jumps up on the table and positions herself right in front me. Like if she's saying, "pay attention to me". -- Photoshop these nuts in your mouth.
