[XPPro] download question

It used to be, when I went to download a file, I would click the link and a window would come up asking me where I wanted to save the file. Now, I no longer have that choice. When I click the link, a window pops up with the option to save but it doesn't let me choose where to save. Everything goes to the desktop. How can I make it give me the option?

That just gives me the option to save the file but will not let me specify the location to store it. Everything I download goes directly to my desktop. If I want it to go to a separate folder I have to move it after the download is done.
This just recently started happening. I used to be able to tell it where to put the file.

What browser are you using?

Maybe this will help (if you're using MSIE)

I would ask the same question that La Luna did, what browser are you using. I use IE8, Firefox and Chrome and all have an ability under Options to designate what folder you want downloads to save to. I too like to designate one Download folder then I install, move or what ever once it is done.

I am using Mozilla. I found the place to change where to download to. It was set to download to desktop. I don't know how that happened, but I changed it back to let me specify the location.
Thanks to all that replied.

Yep, that's where I was headed with my question. Glad you found where to fix it.
